Shouldn't the piccolo accept both the Bulldog and and Standard weber handle? I thought the only different between the 2 Webers was the handle, so the thread should be identical should they not?

Should...I think Alex is reporting successes and failures, not speculation. I would have thought iKon and Weber handles were identical, but my Fatip fits the Weber but not the iKon.

Well, it can be dependent upon the actual Fatip that you recieve. The Fatip does not have accurate specs as they are made without much quality control. This lack of supervision at the factory yeilds an extraordinary amount of defective razors that may or may not effect the shave result. An example would be the construction points, plating, thread size inaccuracy, and many other issues that the buyer will ignore for the reason that the head design is one of the best ever made. The buyer can actually alter the shave result to his/her favor by adding a heavier handle or replating it to nicer finish.

Since I got my Fatip (Weber Classic Handle), I've only tried a few blades. Feathers work beautifully. Med Preps are really rough. I tried a Voskhod tonight. It was very good, but not as good as the Feather. Since I only use a blade twice...I want something fast out of the gate.
Trying a Med Prep in my iOC (iKon Open Comb) tomorrow.

Yes, that i am sir. The list is made up our B&B'ers who actually try the handle on a FAtip and they send the findings to us so we can document it. Anyone can copy the list, add any razor, and report it as a new update.

That is a great summary of the FaTip and it's issues.
Still definitely my favourite DE, but maybe they should save on all the wasted resources in making the redundant handle, and just sell the head on it's own.

Which is why this boy is getting a Joris for Christmas. :biggrin1:

The sales would most likely be affected. The Fatip company had issues early in 60's and 80's and put the Fatip on hold until they settled the financial issues. They made the Fatip in 80's and have been manufacturing this design with various modifications along the way up until present day and time.

I have finally achieved two bbs blood free (BBSBF?) shaves with my Ruthenium Premax (Fatip) Grande. After changing my angle I now get the smooth feel during the shave that you guys have been talking about. I like the stock handle as I think it looks like art and I find it to be very well balanced when held just below the neck taper. But that's just me, as I prefer things to be "stock". Razors, bass guitars, classic automobiles. And yes I have promised Alex a photo but being old school I'm still trying to upload a 35mm film shot. HaHa. I like that razor so much I will likely sell a couple of other razors to finance the purchase of another one.

I need a little help here. If I wanted to purchase a heavier handle for my Picollo should I buy a Sabi T1 or T2 ? I am just preparing myself in case I need to purchase another handle. This is so confusing. All I wanted an OC . :confused1

Took my piccolo handle to Lowe's. 5mm was too big. 4mm was too small. So would it be 4.5mm with .75 thread pitch?

What is your budget? I don't know Sabis. Alex's list show Sabi Fat, but I don't know what that is.
You can get a Weber Bulldog or Classic for $38.

Bullgoose still has some Picolos for $25.

All Fatip/Joris lovers gang , can you name and describe what handles fits your model Joris/Fatip razor. Also include the dimensions, sizes, or any other quirks or tricks that each handle may require. I know some members say some handle require extra turns or less turning, and or breaking in the thread etc.

The Wade & Butcher, aka Durham Duplex, handle is a fit for my Piccolo. Makes a nice combination.

Handle specs:
Length: 3 inches (76.2 mm)
Weight: 1.6 oz. (45 grams)

That's sweet! Have you shaved with the Durham Duplex head that came with that handle?

No, I haven't. AFIK, the only blades currently available that fit the DD are "utility", aka, carpet cutting blades, and that sounds too gnarly for me. You do see original, NOS DD blades around (in fact, I think I might have some), but my understanding is that these blades are carbon steel and therefore long past their prime. I guess in either case you could strop them up and render them serviceable, but I've only got so much time and so many shaves.

But, as i said, the DD handle is great on the Fatip, and I like it on a number of other heads as well. Think, for example, of those many, split-wide-open, ball end NEWS and Old Types that you run across. The DD is a big improvement on OEM.
