Sounds like your sales rep may not have explained leasing to you properly. Was it constructed with a specific amount of miles per year...say 12000 instead of what you actually needed? A properly built lease can be a great way to buy vehicles. You get a new one every three years or so and the buyout should always reflect actual mileage on the vehicle. So on your van, at the end of 3 years, the buyout should have reflected there were 200,000 miles on it...or however many years you were leasing it for.I drove that van around 70K miles a year.. on a lease. What a mistake.
