Cover Songs

Dwight Yoakam has an all covers album "Under the Covers" and he covers everyone from Sonny Bono to the Clash one of my favorite records.
Jamie Cullum's version of the "Wind Cries Mary" by Hendrix is as good as the original.
By far the worst cover song ever goes to Metallica "Whiskey In The Jar" it makes me cringe just writing it down.

Since AC/DC refuses to join iTunes - Iced Earth does a pretty good cover of "Highway to Hell"

Travis Tritt "Take It Easy" (Eagles) - I prefer TT version

here's a pretty cool and psychadelic cover of CSNY's Wooden Ships by the Jefferson Airplane.

I like My Chemical Romance cover of Bob Dylan's Desolation Row.

I was in PennyLane records in Lawrence KS talking with the owner/manager and he had The Sex Pistols on the sound system. There were a few other customers in the store and two teenagers made this comment when Anarchy in the UK came on: " listen these guys are singing a MegaDeath song."
The owner then got mad and said this: " Get out of my store!!!!Get Out!!! If you two are too stupid to know that MegaDeath covered The Sex Pistols then you are too stupid to be my customers. Get Out and never set foot in my shop again!!"

Wow. I can't believe that I forgot about this one:

On American Idol, these young musicians constantly do that. One of them said "I'm doing a Joe Cocker song called With a Little Help from My Friends", so the musical director said "NO! that's a Beatles song!" And another girl said "I'm doing Last Dance by Selena". Donna Summer did that song.

A few more good ones

Creedence Clearwater Revival - Midnight Special
The Clash - I Fought the Law
Hopeton Lewis - Rivers of Babylon
Rage Against the Machine - Ghost of Tom Joad
The White Stripes - Death Letter

Another +1 for Johnny Cash's "Hurt." I'm a big fan of Sid Vicious' cover of "My Way," though I have to play it when the house is otherwise empty, as my wife DESPISES it. Furthermore, I kind of like Gary Oldman's cover of Sid Vicious' cover of "My Way," from "Sid and Nancy." I heard a great cover of The Cranberries' "Zombie," but I can't remember the name of the band. If I remember right, they were from Gibraltar, of all places.

Its amazing how many times a song is covered and covered...

DEVO has done covers of

"Are You Experienced," Jimi Hendrix
"Bread And Butter," The Newbeats
"Gotta Serve Somebody," Bob Dylan
"Head Like A Hole," Nine Inch Nails
"(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction," The Rolling Stones
"Morning Dew," Bonnie Dobson
"Ohio," Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
"Secret Agent Man," Johnny Rivers
"Working in the Coal Mine," Lee Dorsey

and many have done covers of them as well

Girl U Want was covered by Soundgarden, Robert Palmer

I think I got one of the best ones. U all know -> Black - wonderful life, but I think same song covered by Zucchero is much much better. :thumbup1:
