What's new

Confession time.

I currently have 16 razors.
4 SE ( 1 modern and 3 vintage)
12 DE ( 4 modern and 8 vintage and of those vintage 6 are birth year)
I'm not looking to add anymore unless I can find a smoking deal on a birth year (1958) gillette toggle.

Hi,

Hmmm. Let me think here. Meaning rambling post follows.

On the counter is my Grandfather's Old Type. And one of my Fasan Double Slants. And my Dad's post war Tech.

So, that's 3

In the drawer is the pre war Tech my dad gave me for my first razor. And a Super Speed which my mom gave him for Christmas in 1948.

So, three more makes 6

There is a set of open comb razors I picked up out of curiosity, but come out to play during Open Comb October, aka OCtober.

New Improved
New Short Comb
New Long Comb
1934 Aristocrat.

Now I am up to 10.

There is another OC, a Schick Type C repeater which is SE and uses injector blades. Count it if you wish. I use it for ground travel.

Finally, there is an Above The Tie S2 open comb slant which I used for all of one month trying to like it. I didn't. In the end the Fasan came back into play.

Up to 11

Oh, and I have two of the Fasans. The second is a spare. They are hard to find so I picked up #2 just because it came up. And if I bust #1 I just switch and go back to looking for a spare.

So, the end count is 12.

13 if you count the Schick.

SR - too many + too many hones, etc
DE - too many
SE / Gem - too many
SE / injector - quite a few, used to be too many
SE / AC - none, because I know the importance of restraint and moderation

True confession: I probably still have too many injectors.

Perspective: I have spent far, far more time and money on sailing, kayaking, and skiing than I have on shave goods. And don't even get me started on the costs of a marriage, home, and family!

Hmm, well appears I am at:
DE > 41 ( shared in two baths 21/20 - mostly modern - 3 vintage )
SE > 10 ( 7 modern - 3 vintage)

This does not count the ones I bought for my Wife (henson), Dad or my Brother, in which some come back to me.

My family & finances come first but it is a passion & one of my hobbies so I adjust and I fit it in when I can...

Cheers
BFX

My collection of shavettes has recently ballooned. I will run through them for SABREtember, starting next Friday!

I am pretty sure I am forgetting something. I have had many more razors pass through my stewardship, but these are what I am left with.

A lot of threads on the forum with that question.

These are only half of them.

But the answers are fluid. Definitely, maybe.

Not made for these times.
Definitely, maybe.
Let's keep Oasis out of this. :) 😋

So it goes (on an internet hobby forum).

Down to a game changer .68 and a .84 head. There is a blue starburst lady Gillette somewhere that I have never used.

Perhaps the question should have been "how much of your declining mental acuity have you given to shaving gear?".

I look at that list and I KNOW TOO MUCH!

musicman1951

three-tu-tu, three-tu-tu
6 modern DE razors and a Slim, but I really only use 2: Wolfman at home and ATT for travel. I've never sold anything I no longer use. Some combination of laziness and procrastination.
