April 27, 2024 Saturday shave

Razor: Karve Overlander, aluminum
Blade: Personna Lab Blue (3)
Soap: Cella red
Brush: Yaqi 24mm Silvertip badger
Bowl: Captain's Choice Heavyweight copper
Post shave: Omega alum block, Thayer's Witch Hazel
Aftershave: Old Spice Original

The headliner today was the first use of a "real" badger brush, a Yaqi 24mm Silvertip badger. It was a good first run, and it will likely evolve to the better as it breaks in.

I think the new brush soaked up some of the lubricating components of the lather, it wasn't as slick as usual. More usage should resolve that issue.
Even though the Cella lather wasn't perfect, due to the brush, it was good enough for a terrific shave!

This was a three pass shave; no weepers, etc. and no irritation. The Personna Lab Blue and Overlander combination is proving to be quite good.

Enjoy your day!

Today was another great Cella red day.

Cella has serious advantages that other soaps find hard to compete with. Here are eight reasons Cella is superior to many other soaps: 1] Cella is inexpensive. 2] Cella lasts a long while before it needs to be repurchased 3] Cella gives a very creamy lather 4] Cella gives a great face feel during the shave 5] Cella offers superior protection and extra full passes can be accomplished without re-lathering 6] Cella has nice face feel post shave. I don't even use aftershave or witch hazel afterwards with this soap 7] unlike a tallow soap many think smells like a unrinal puck, Cella smells great. The red softens with age to a pleasant powdery smell 8] Cella red is still a tallow shaving soap.
