Blade Polish

Hey guys,
I've got a Dovo razor that has a few very small white marks towards the edge of it,(perhaps water marks?) around 1/8 from the bottom perhaps. The issues it the razor has what i believe to be gold etching. And i read acid etching? not quite sure what that is. Anyway my issue is i am worried that if i try to polish these marks away i may remove this. I was looking at trying this polish http://www.genrejewellery.co.uk/simichromepolish.htm
Do you think i would be safe using this or do i run the risk of removing the pattern?
This is a picture of the razor dont know if it will help you understand what i mean by the pattern but i hear a picture is worth a thousand words http://www.nashvilleknifeshop.com/dosoprklrare.html

Thanks alot

I use Maas for cleaning my blades although I understand Flitz and some other metal polishing products work well also. I also use Camelia oil in between uses to preserve the blades. Camelia oil is what the Japanese sword smiths use on their blades.

Its not gold etching its gold wash and very delicate. if you use any metal polish it will begin to remove the gold unless you can get to the marks without touching the gold but if they are over the gold there ain't much you can do but live with it. If there is etching under the gold that won't be harmed.

Thanks guys, the marks are very low down below the gold wash i guess ill just have to make sure its dried well before storage. I actually touched the blade up on my paddle strop and this removed some of the marks.
