This is/was a really cool one, Back Home Beer is a female Iranian brewer based in NY that I heard about and have been following for a bit. They have no distro to the west coast yet and I haven’t been to NY for a while, but a buddy was out there and brought a few back for me which was awesome. I definitely enjoyed this IPA made with sumac and apples and the lager made with Persian blue salt.
My initial journey into craft beers revealed that I was a bottle snob. I'm over it now; seeing it from a cost/economic viewpoint and there's no difference from a flavor angle, at least what I can detect. Starting to stock up on the barbecuing ales and lagers.
Whisky barrel-aged brown ale from Boulevard. 11.9%, and it lets you know right from the start on the nose. Warm. but not overpowering. Caramel and a hint of vanilla. If there's a fault, it's a pervasive sweetness. I was okay with this one as a single.
