A good beard oil or balm is completely different than a conditioner in the shower. I can tell the difference if I skip it and it is quite noticeable. Short hair or long makes no difference, it will help and for the cost it is worth trying out.
Try Honest Amish, they make amazing all natural products at reasonable prices. I have yet to be disappointed in anything of theirs I have tried. I really like the made in USA and all natural ingredients. I am sure there are cheaper products but I like being able to trust a brand and what they use.
