Zookeepers of the Muhle R41 BEAST

First post here. Just started DE shaving a few days ago with a EJde89 and have figured out the steeper angle works much better for me on this razor as well but before I discovered this I ordered a BEAST! Also have learned about replacing the blade sooner than what I thought it would be as well. Can't wait to be a member of the Order of the beast. That sounds way more satanic than I wanted it to. Anyway ordered a bulldog for it as well and can't wait to give it a go. Gotta say though I'm enjoying the DE89 as I ride the learning curve twice daily:)

Welcome to B&B. It is great to have you here! It's exciting that you have a BEAST on the way too… I bet you will enjoy it. That being said, I would strongly encourage you to perfect your technique on the DE89 before you attempt to use the R41. If your technique is anything short of perfect, the R41 will cause you heaps of bloodshed and irritation. That being said, once you are ready for it, it will likely give you some of the best shaves of your life!

Oh, and don't use the R41 twice in one day either.

Love my 2013 R41.
:) :D

Nice to see some appreciation for the 2013. I've read more than I want regarding the 2011, and as it's essentially impossible for a novice to find one at this point (with less than 50 posts you cannot even post on B/S/T), it only results in frustration. I'm pleased with the performance of my 2013, and as I have a very nice Muhle R89 for lighter-growth or more frequent shaving, what more should I really need, anyway?

Absolutely… you do hear a lot of love on B&B for the 2011, but that doesn't mean that there is anything wrong with the 2013. Although I prefer the 2011, I consider the 2013 to still be excellent and in truth, there are actually many people out there who prefer the 2013 over the 2011 anyway! I just think that the 2011 gets a lot of "press" here because it's totally unique in the DE world (as far as I have experienced, anyway) whereas the 2013 is at least somewhat similar to a few other razors out there in performance (Arguably, the ATT H2, FaTip, perhaps barbasol floating head, etc.) .

But yes, definitely keep enjoying your 2013, and if you ever have the chance to get a 2011, I'd encourage you to give it a try, but if you don't find one, don't sweat it either and just keep enjoying your 2013 as I said.

Great news :001_tt1: Mrs B has just picked the R41 up from the Post Office, tomorrow is going to be a great day!

Ta da!
