Zomchi blades

I have not tried them. I have no idea where they are made but I came across some "zomchi superior platinum" on amazon. Ridiculous price. More expensive than astra superior platinum. Anybody try them? I would just say stick with astra sp for the price but just curious.

I bought a Zomchi razor from Amazon not too long after I started wet-shaving for about $30. I was dazzled by the pretty green color. A tuck of Zomchi branded blades came with the razor.

As I recall the blades performed OK but weren't worth seeking out and especially not for what they retail for. If you have ever used run-of-the-mill Chinese blades (nothing wrong with those if they suit your hair and wallet), the Zomchi were probably one of those.

I have since seen my razor sold for around $5 on AliExpress but not in that unique green shade, so I think Zomchi is rebranding OEM goods and selling them to USA customers. That's fine and all but the same details apply to the blades. They're probably available under another name on AE for much less.

yeah but they have two kinds of blades. They have a regular pack of stainless steel blades and then a green and black pack of superior platinum variety.

Must be the tariffs 🤣

Joking aside, Amazon pricing is sometimes hard to understand.

But in all honesty, I wouldn't bother with obscure Chinese blade brands.
sheeeesh them tariffs are not good. Well I checked their website and they actually sell them at a higher price than amazon funny enough. I tend to agree when it comes to some chinese blades. The gillette wilkinson sword chinese variety are awful. But the chinese made platinum strangelets are not bad at all. I hear there are some other good chinese brand blades but for me it doesnt matter what other people say...ironically because I look at others opinions on here....but until I try them on my face I wont really know whats good or not.

True. But the problem with these sort of brands from China is that you don't really know what you're buying.

When I buy BIC or Derby for example, I know that these blades are made in modern factories in Greece and Turkey. They're respectable companies in the razor blade business so to speak. With these Chinese blades, you just don't know.

Also, when 99 out of 100 people on B&B say blade X is garbage, you can be pretty sure it is.

Disagree. Country of origin is not an overriding factor for blade quality. I tried some Zaza blades from Turkey that were almost unusable for me. Meanwhile Chinese blades like Suneko and FlyDear blades are good performers with high value propositions.

Just as Zaza is not representative of all Turkish blades, neither would I dump all Chinese blades in the same bucket.

If I buy it for the hype on B&B thats great but ill let my face be the judge. And it depends. China has some good factories. I mean they make iphones and some android models for american companies. We get all sorts of goodies from them. I cannot judge something badly just because it is made in china. For example it all depends on the specs. BYD electric cars from china are better than anything we can make over here. Its all about the factory in question and the specs and quality control. Gillette for example doesnt always demand the best quality control from the contracted factories in china. Because they don't care as much. India is another country to be skeptical of in the same region. But yet they produce decent blades. Not the best not the worst but decent. I could use astra sp in a couple of my razors forever. They dont work for me in all razors but atleast they do in some mild ones. People dont like ALL russian blades or ALL indian blades either. It just depends.

In my case, mine was the plat version. I remember getting some Astra SPs expecting them to feel like the Zomchi, but was pleasantly surprised at the improvement.
welp that is a factor to consider. I wasnt going to buy zomchi over astra ever but I was definitely curious because the "superior platinum" branding was new to me.

That is at all not what I was saying. Re-read my post.
