Your Top Five Albums

Off the top of my head:

Allman Brothers at Fillmore East
Layla (Derek and the Dominos)
Tonight's the Night (Neil Young)
Wish You Were Here (Pink Floyd)
Late For the Sky (Jackson Brown)
Sticky Fingers (Stones)

I know, that's six. I couldn't stop.

Yeasayer - All Hour Cymbals
Velvet Underground & Nico - s/t
Chemical Brothers - Surrender
Human League - Dare
CSNY - 4 Way Street

This was a really difficult and really fun exercise! I tried to pull albums from different genres that have had a big impact on me, whether by acquisition, situation, mind blown, or whatever. These are some albums that I've listened to many many times, and that I always enjoy coming back to.

Crosby, Stills & Nash - Crosby, Stills & Nash
Augustus Pablo - East of the River Nile
The Damned - Machine Gun Etiquette
Frank Zappa - Overnight Sensation
Miles Davis - Big Fun

Blue Oyster Cult - Extra Terrestrial Live
Van Halen - Van Halen II
AC/DC - Flick of the Switch
Judas Priest - Unleashed in the East
Ozzy - The Ultimate Sin

Sheer Heart Attack – Queen
Nightfall in Middle Earth – Blind Guardian
Appetite for Destruction – Guns ‘n Roses
Master of Puppets – Metallica
Stone Roses – Stone Roses

I tried to pick a favourite album from Iron Maiden and Judas Priest but couldn’t narrow it down. Reducing Queen to one album was hard enough.
Artists on the cusp were Jacques Loussier, Holly Cole, Rammstein, Motzart, Greig and Beethoven. I would be gutted to actually have to choose only 5!

Greatest hits albums were ignored because for me they often miss the essence of the artist they are from.
