Wicked 3rd grade math problem.

The grid is separate from the equations. Just draw a grid and number it as described. The value of the symbol comes from the shape that the number occupies in the grid. So, again, with the corrected symbol in the middle you get:

1+2=3
4+1=5
6+2=8

Gotta be it.

So the answer is 1+2=3 ? The other lines were clues and we are assuming that second symbol, on the second row, is not correct.

Got it. Fun trick.
Palmar, I think there is consensus that the middle symbol, second row is drawn incorrectly. Should be a J.

I hope it was the teacher that screwed up on the middle symbol so your kid can correct his butt. My wife is going to kill me for coming to bed so late. Good night all!

How do we know that ] is 4 and [ is 6?
This is the key:

See it now?

Well I was just responding to rockminer in a PM about how it could be something else..... BUT now I see it! I have seen the light! Now I can go face my wife and explain to her after I wake her up as I get in bed that it was because of a tic tac toe grid and 9 numbers. She will certainly understand.

BTW, is dpm802 part of Mensa or something?
I never got around to officially joining, but yeah, I'm qualified. I've got SAT scores that will get me in without having to take their entrance exam.

But as my avatar once said ... "I'd never join any organization that would have someone like me for a member."

BTW, all I have to do is show those SAT scores plus $2.09 and I'm entitled to a Grande coffee at any Starbucks in America.
