What's new

Who's used Proraso Red?

I'm not a fan of the flat sandalwood scent, but feel the cream is ok. I've ended up using it at times as an add in with semi-hard soaps to make an ubber lather. That has worked very well.

I think the cream lathers great. I also like the scent it is woodsy and pleasant. Some other takes on sandalwood can be overly heavy and musky or quite sweet, this is definitely in between those two styles.

Both the Red and the "old" Green (have not tried the new Green) lather well, albiet differently, and both provide great glide and protection and leave the skin feeling VERY nice. I've found the scent of the Red does carry on for several hours and, in my book, that's not a bad thing at all

Finally used Proraso Red today. I had a great shave. First time out I like to skip the pre-shave cream to test the lather lubrication and smoothness. WOW! No cuts, No burns, and No weepers.

Red is above and beyond my favorite Proraso cream, by far. The scent is lovely… very similar base scent to the Blue, if you've ever used that, but the red is WAY less sweet than the blue and has a much earthier scent, from the sandalwood. I just love it. And even better, I think it performs noticeably better than the other Proraso creams too.

Proraso Red is a cream that you just cannot go wrong with.

Pro Red is a great cream. The scent is woodsy/earthy. I've been using HTGAM and Mike's lately (I wanted a change of pace) and this cream is just as good as these new artisan soaps.

I bought a tube of the cream for my dad last year and it's all he'll use now. He loves the scent and the way it makes his skin feel...Red is personally my favorite but I felt pretty validated when I got him to make the switch after 40+ years of shaving with whatever supermarket gel caught his eye....

Third shave on the Red, What can I say, it's Prpraso -- There's not much out there that's better IMO. Nickle size ina bowel is more than enough for 3 passes plus. Scent is personal so to each his own. Great stuff though..

Love the red. I get great results from all the Proraso lineup, but I gave a slight edge to the Red, I think. The Shea Butter really gives a boost in the moisturizing department.

And the scent. Oh man, the scent. I love it. A lot of guys here call it a more wintery scent, but I don't think so. I find it to be quite cool, I guess? It reminds me of stepping out the door from my great grandma's house in the woods in the morning. A very cool, woodsy, almost mossy scent. I guess that sort of reflects others take on it, but to me, that's a spring/summer thing, not winter.

Also, my great uncle wore something very similar to this, so it's got plenty of memories attached to it for me.

Either way, this stuff rocks, and it has a permanent place in my den from now on

I like all of the Proraso creams. I agree with the earthy/woodsy/manly scent described by others. To me, the sandalwood scent in the Red isn't as strong as the sandalwood version of other creams. Plus, it is pretty easy to get a good lather.

Its great! Very warming, natural scent. The most natural sandalwood scented soap ive tried. Its like you just turned full lumberjack and chopped down a cedar tree and took a wiff of its sap.

I have three full-size tubs of various cream, some soap, plus a bunch of samples, but Proraso Red is my go-to; I love the scent. And it's cheap!

I have a tube of the Red. Brilliant performance, but I really don't care for the scent - smells like some kind of damp/mould to me.

I'm at the end of a bowl of Red. Nothing to complain about - lathers well, decent scent, seems to last forever. Not sure if I will buy again in as that I prefer stronger sandalwood scents (AOS). I may try the TOBS sandalwood as a replacement.

The red didn't do me any favors at all. It performed real well and all but it's a thirsty soap. I had a bad reaction to the Red formula. The scent isn't that great. In fact I was told that the TOBS version is alot better.
