who makes a good OTR slim fit dress shirt?

I like Brooks Brothers and Pink slim fit shirts.

+1 on the Thomas Pink Slim fit shirts, quality of the cloth is second to none but they are expensive.

A more cost effective option in with very good quality cloth (only buy the Luxury cloths) are TM lewin shirts, they often do a promotion with 4 for $144

Macy's has slims

I will never pay retail on a dress shirt from Macy's or any other department store for that matter. if I want Macy's stuff at a discount i'll just hop on over to Marshalls or TJ Maxx

does anyone have an opinion on the Alfani brand? they've always struck me as one of these cheap designer labels like so many others but they do offer a slim fit dress shirt with spread collar. are their shirts a good fit?

I'm about as slim as you can get without being anorexic. My shirts are 15.5 x 32-33, and some brands fit quite well while others just seem to sag and drag.

I'm a big fan of Dockers oxford shirts ... I buy them at Sears and Boscov for around $20 each, they look good, they fit well, they stand up to dozens of washings. I bought four Dockers shirts about 5 years ago, and 3 of them are still serviceable for day-time wear.

+1 for Charles Tyrwhitt. The quality of the shirts versus price (especially when on sale) makes me think they are an excellent value.

I'm in the shop on 7th Avenue all the time. Every time I do something stupid like spill my coffee in the morning I end up downstairs buying a new shirt. I'm beginning to think subconsciously I'm spilling my coffee on purpose as to have an excuse to buy a new shirt.

Brooks Brothers and Joe Banks are both excellent. I believe at least some of each are made in the same factory (sadly, both overseas now). Given the sale structure at Joe Banks they are often a better buy. I used to have custom shirts made in Hong Kong until my then tailor admitted that his profit margins on shirts was the best of anything he sold-unless you have a specific anatomical need you can get the same quality fabric and quality of construction with a good OTR shirt with just as good a fit. That was my last run with custom shirts and I haven't really missed them. USA made shirts are harder to find, usually more expensive and hard to find in a no iron fabric. Gitman still makes some nice ones and I recall slim was possible.

the DKNY slim fit shirt I bought last week is decent enough. my only complaint is that I don't really care for the narrow collar. so, who makes an inexpensive slim fit shirt with a spread collar?

I work downtown NYC and just purchased today, 3 Brooks Brothers SLIM no-iron shirts, spread collars, for $199.

Maybe this will help, I am 6' 225lbs and train daily. Every dress shirt I own is blousy as I have a 17.5" neck and 34" sleeves. Chest is probably a 44, waist about a 36 on a good day.

I went last week to Brooks Brothers and am waiting on a MTM shirt as a test run. With a discount it came out to a bit over $100.

Today I had some free time and took a walk to BB and tried on their REGULAR fit shirts and they were just as blousy around the waist as all my others were. I asked the sales guy for a slim fit to try on. He thought it would not fit me correctly as I have some love handles. (see above: 36" waist) : )

Well I tried it on and it was almost perfect! It fit me great around the chest and shoulders and was only a bit loose around the waist.

Slim huh? More like shirts should fit to begin with.

I'll report further as I wear them.

Another vote here for Brooks Brothers. Most of my shirts are BB.

I also have a Lands end slim fit shirt which is fine (though I don't see slim as an option on their web site anymore).

For something less expensive, there is this site: www.paulfredrick.com. A bit tighter fit than BB.

I wasn't aware of T.M. Lewin and Charles Tyrwhitt until I perused this thread, so thanks.

Brooks Brothers "slim" shirts are not a really really slim cut shirt. They have a slimmer cut below "slim" that is a real tight fit shirt I believe

Why don't you go to a MTM store locally? That's what I did. They have a special for 3 for $150. And you get the fit you want, the correct measurements etc.

Ordering online is another option but remember everyone's body type is different

I'll throw my .02 in.

The Brooks Brothers shirts were never "slim" enough for me. The only shirts I wear now are the Lands End tailored fit shirts. They fit me perfect. I was hesitant to go with the Lands End shirts, but the quality is outstanding for the price.
