WhiskerLess DE Shaving Journey

And I wonder how BBS is BBS from a two pass shave? I think that metric truly varies significantly person to person. The two pass your searching for may be a Unicorn that can’t be found.

I don't write the word BBS on my journal because its like impossible to justify.
However, I shave ATG from start to end 3 passes. ATG!!! that would give you a clear picture how close and marble smooth I could get after my shaves. I could achieve this result comfortably irritation free with Lupo, GC and even my 6S easily.

TiBird on the other hand is a little rough post shave.

Sharp blade and add pressure!

I noticed that suction effect also, thankfully it didn’t taken away too much from my last experience.

I used Nacet which I'm very familiar with.
Pretty sure Nacet blade belongs to very sharp spectrum.

Glad to know I'm not the only one who felt suction effect.

2nd shave with TiBird and maiden use of my MdC Agrumes. Tonight shave with TiBird is so much better. I rode the cap maintaining a slightly shallower angle and less pressure. Took me longer than my usual shaves but I have to be cautious or this bad boy will bite.

I am glad that no suction feel effect tonight. Perhaps a little too much pressure last time causing my skip to get caught in between the gap. I think TiBird’s blade feel is more distinct than any of my other razors. Another reason why less pressure for me helps.

A milder blade and few more shaves with TiBird and I could finally tame this. It’s definitely a very good progress tonight. Overall its a super close comfortable shave with a little A/S feedback.

On the other side of the news.
Mail call, happy dance again.

Finally the last missing piece of my MdC puzzle arrived today. MdC Agrumes to complete my scented Martin De Candre collection. What a lovely scent it is. I know it’s a little crazy but it would be crazier not to complete all the scents.

I am also expecting delivery of my Timeless Ti95OC tomorrow evening.

I'm a big fan of Wizamet with the TiBird. Smooth enough to calm it down but still sharp enough to deliver the goods.

I shaved again with the Ti Bird tonight and I will say that I took the recommendations of @JL 52 to heart. I did a two pass shave, WTG and ATG and added substantially more pressure than I ever have and got a ridiculously close shave. I was able to get all the hairs up under my nose as well just by adding that pressure. While I did go a bit overboard with the pressure and ended up with a few very minor nicks and increased aftershave sting, I realized what this Ti razor needed….pressure if it wasn’t clear haha.

This is my first Ti razor (no Al razor experience either) and I do love the weight and nimble nature but I’m really taken aback by how different the shaving approach is. Night and day. The secrets are in there, still digging them up but we’re getting close.

Glad you're getting some progress with your TiBird.
Pressure being applied by each of us may vary from one person to another.
YMMV, unless we both have a way to measure this of course.

I may have a heavy hands, reducing pressure on my recent last shave helps.

Perhaps its the design, blade feel, angle or whatsoever.
Personally I feel that TiBird just became my most aggressive razor atm.
Definitely not a daily driver for me. My Lupo 95OC turns mild in comparison with TiBird.

I personally found the TiBird to be on par with the Lupo 95 in terms of shave closeness, and that’s high praise. As awesome as the Lupo 95 was, my scalp was crying out for help after each shave. So far not the slightest hint of irritation from the TiBird 👏🏾

I completely agree. And I did fail to mention that this seemed to drive up the aggressiveness substantially. Definitely not the smoothest shave ever recorded.

Yup. Don’t get me wrong great razor with great results usually. Not yet the wow I read about that’s all. YMMV is so true in this case for me. I used an Executive Shaving Outlaw Classic recently and it was amazing from the start. Potentially the number one razor in my rotation instantly. Never would have guessed.

And I might be judging the Blackbird under false pretences as I am starving for that two pass BBS others are raving about where my beard might actually not be that cooperative in a two pass shave no matter what razor I use…
Takes me 4 passes with the Bird to get the shave I want, but I love how it shaves.

I wonder though, how does TiBird performs with their recommended blade Personna Comfort Coated blades.
I like that combo when I want a super close shave. It's aggressive, but manageable. Use a light touch, keep your face well lubricated, be mindful about shaving angle, and keep a mister at the ready for that suction effect. Not the blade for me for daily use, but if you want really close, it's a good call.

Like Lee @Teutonblade, my goto for the std. Blackbird is a Wizamet.

Anything with an exposure of 0.10mm or greater I use a Wizamet for, which in my collection includes the GC2.II, Nodachi, and TiBird. I also use one in the R41 GS. But I think it’s best pairing is the TiBird, where it really sings.

I'm using my GC1.1 at the moment and started with the Lab Blue. Tomorrow, I'm switching to the Schick. A few days from now, I'll go with a Wizamet...Gotta end on a smooth one!

@walpan turned me onto Dorco Primes. After reading through the work of @helicopter I see that the Dorco’s are a bit controversial, and maybe it was a fluke but I had 2 or 3 shaves with them in the Athena and Blutt which outshined my beloved Wilkinson Germanys. I picked up 200 so I guess I’ll find out if they hold up.
