Siouxsie,

Did you like the Pils you ended up with? How do you like the shave of it compared to the Feather?

I'm still finishing up some other razors but I'll post on that topic when I've tried 'em out.

+1 for GentlemensBest...I got mine from Ray and it was a pleasurable experience. He didn't have the single holder at the time and I got that from Europe...

Razor is such a blast to use...aside from the hobby aspect, I'm not sure WHY I even have my other razors...hard to justify really...it works THAT well :)

With the PILS, the angle you use is particularly important...it's a mild shaver if you prefer that term.

The weight helps a lot, and it seems the thick safety bars contribute to a very Smooth shave:thumbup1:

How does the safety bar on the Pils work? I wouldn't think you would want the bar to be placed on the skin as that would push the shaving lather away from the blade. Thanks for any help with this.

I'm getting RAD for PILS. Which PILS looks the nicest, the all stainless or the one that's high polished except for the main part of the handle, which is that brushed matte finished stainless?

If someone has seen both in person, that would be helpful input as well. I'll actually put up three options. I'm not interested in the gold or the hex handle. There are photos at Gentlemens' Best and RazorEmporium.
I have the HEX ..it easier to grip for a heavy razor

Stub- even the gold one? I'd be afraid to shave with that thing. It looks like something ridiculously expensive, which it is...lol

I would be curious on how they made it to protect a 24K gold plate. I thought 24K was soft. So what goes over that to prevent it from coming off and giving the owner atrial fibrillations?

Yeah, even the gold one, tho it is not my favorite. I have a feeling plating processes are a little better now than when Gillette was painting an atom's thickness of gold on their razors.

I have a few razors to unload, first, but I think I'll go for the stainless one first, then the nickel if I like it. When I first saw the PILS something in me said "I have to have it." Given that it seems to be a mild shaver, and that I favor mild razors (I pretty much only use the Krona now, even with my recent excursion into Aristocrat territory), I'm hoping it will work out.

I also want to try the IKON-- if they ever make any that is.

You guys have to see these razors in real life. I've seen a couple of them next to each other and I'd have to say my personal favorite is the 101NE. They all feel pretty similar in your hand, haven't had any experience with the hex yet, any reviews on that?

Of course...after I already got mine, I get the promo email and then this post...:glare:

Another day, another razor...
Thought you snatched the 118NN? What are your thoughts on it?
We're hesitating on carrying that one since we have both the 101NE and 101NN.
Would you recommend?

It is the one I chose because I wanted the polished head and other than the all stainless, it has the most stainless in it. Only the end cap and neck ring are polished nickel plated brass. The head is polished stainless and the handle is matte stainless. It is a really nice contrast. I would definitely recommend it.

If you ever get the gold, and a 10% discount...I'll definitely think about it.

Gentlemen's Best will be pulling the PIL's line as of today due to conflicts of interest. Orders will be honored. Thank you for your patronage.

Cleaned out of the all stainless and the Feather...that was quick.
