Good morning, coffee crew.

Frothy Monkey 12 South. 🐒
French press.
Black.

It's 57° in Music City right now with a high around 59° today. The storms have passed. I'm grateful I didn't lose power and I'm not seeing any trees or limbs down. About 6 hours of rest. I woke up a few times last night but I managed to drift back off.

I'm looking forward to some enchiladas and a Dos Equis later, then I'll be in my studio from 2 - 5 pm.

Have a peaceful Sunday, my friends.

A special shoutout to Brett @ShavedPeeps for his kind PMs. ☕

G'day all!
Long black and some malted milk biscuits today.
Cold, grey and rainy today, bit of a difference from the heatwave of the last week, but at least it's feeling a little more autumnal.

Today's brew was with Red Rooster Coffee Roasters (Floyd, VA) - Ethiopia Worka Sakaro Anaerobic Natural beans, opaque plastic Hario V60-01, Cafec T-90 filter and Lance Hedrick two-pour recipe. It was the first brew using my new Timemore Black Mirror Basic 2 scale. I bought this scale as a replacement for my Acaia Perl (2021 edition) which is currently having issues (and I have not sent it off for repair yet).

The Timemore Black Mirror Basic 2 scale is more responsive than my Timemore Black Mirror Basic scale that I have had for years. It is more waterproof as the '2' model has a silicone plug to cover the USB C charge port. Using the '2' scale today confirmed what I expected in some recent brews: I have been pouring too slowly (which lead to over-extraction and bitter notes). The scale showed I was pouring 2g/s when I should probably be pouring around 4-5g/s. Having the scale give you the actual number of g/s is more intuitive than on my Acaia Perl 2021 edition which has a dotted bar that starts in the center of the scale and gets longer the faster you pour. On that scale, you have to memorize what regions of the line equate to what pour range. Helpful for sure, but not as precise, and that much more to remember first cup of the morning. I like that the Black mirror scales are smaller than my Acaia scale and take up less space on the counter and in storage

I did an evening brew of the Red Rooster Coffee Roasters (Floyd, VA) - Ethiopia Worka Sakaro Anaerobic Natural beans with Varia FLO dripper, Kurasu logo 'Fast 2' screen, Kalita 185 filter and Coffee Chronicler Kalita Wave advanced brew recipe with Gabi DripMaster B.

Looking at my notes, I had not tried this combination before. I turned out very well.

Love that last sentence. Your mother would be very glad to hear it! :LMS

Good morning fellers! Listening to Jason Isbell’s new album and I like it a lot. This morning I drank a cup of Eight O’clock beans using the Moccamaster and enjoyed black. In the darkness it appears that all light is extinguished but upon closer inspection one can notice a slight ray of light piercing through the blackness. Have a wonderful day- peace 🕊️🌈🤩🐶🤗🍀

It's 35° in Music City right now with a high near 60° today. Plenty of sunshine. I got a few hours of solid rest but I woke up just after midnight and it took me a couple hours to get back to sleep. I'm having lunch with a friend later and getting some vocals knocked out at my studio this evening. That's a wrap.

Have a peaceful Monday, my friends.

Cuvée Coffee Emporium, black, brewed with the Aeropress XL today. After a busy weekend (2 day golf tournament with 6 hours of weather delays and 20 miles walked) it’s nice to sit and enjoy a nice cup of coffee as the sun comes up.

Morning all,

Today is a cold brew and watching the 3 hole playoff of the Players between Mcllory and Spaun. We will see if Rory has the luck of the Irish.
I’ll be doing that as well. Then this afternoon I’m going to go spectate a college golf tournament. There are several kids playing in it that came up playing junior golf with my son and I always like to make it out and watch them when I can.
