Good morning, coffee crew.

It's 54° in Music City right now. It's overcast and windy this morning. Some rain expected as well. We dip back down to 32° tonight. Sleep was pretty broken up last night. I woke up around 12 am and it took me about 2 hours to fall back asleep.

Today is Ash Wednesday, so I will be fasting and abstaining from meat. I spoke with my dear friend, Fr. James on the phone yesterday and he gave me some excellent spiritual advice, as always. I'm grateful to have such friends in my life. Back in my studio tomorrow for a few hours.

Have a blessed day, crew.

Hi Eric,

I use a light box during the winter for seasonal depression. Some people also use it for insomnia. In the case of someone waking up too early in the morning, they would use the light for 30 minutes in the afternoon to shift their sleep phase back.

Might be helpful.

Regards,

John

Downtown San Anselmo is only 3 blocks long but there are 5 coffee shops !
My wife and I have become friendly with the staff at Amphora and took my in-laws there to shop for some new balsamic vinegars and olive oils. Amazing people and products - highly recommended!

No need for more coffee after the cap at Rulli, but I have enjoyed coffee (bought a bag of beans) from the local roaster. :cuppa:

Each Amphora is independently owned , I like the San Anselmo one best . Love that you can taste each variety , price is good, friendly staff . I tend to go for maximum robustness .

Using the Lido OG again today to bring out some of those special flavors in this one. Drinking some Amateur Coffee Bubblegum Ethiopian today and find that the Lido OG does a nice job of really bringing out those tasting notes. I do think the bubblegum is a bit of a stretch but the other notes are pretty spot on if I do say. The orange and breakfast tea (think English Breakfast Tea) type notes are very strong and quite lovely if I do say. The Lido does a great job of bringing these out and "separating the layers of flavor" so to speak. This is one of those coffee's I definitely prefer using the Lido OG vs the Comandante c40 actually. The c40 just blends them a little too much on this one.

Beans = Amateur Coffee Bubblegum Ethiopian
Grinder = Orphan Espresso Lido OG
Machine = Breville Infuser 9bar modded (6bar pre-infusion until the shot came together then 9bar until the end)
Prep = Normcore shaker and paper filters (just easier clean up)

Eric I wish you a very meaningful fast on this Ash Wednesday. It’s a blessing to having friends to share some spiritual advise and perspective.

Best wishes,
Paul
