What's new

What's your coffee today? What brew method? Photos

As the Major posted above, he started his day by using his new Moka Pot. As kind of a reference to how the cold weather makes him and his CO, especially his CO*, feel, he made himself a strong cup of Jamaican Me Crazy, from Bones Coffee.

The Moka Pot does a nice job bringing out the vanilla and coffee liqueur flavors in this variety. He'd have another cup, but, given how strong the first one was, he's not sure that drinking another full cup of it would be a smart idea.

Have a good day all. If you're dealing w/snow, etc., stay warm. If you're in the Land Down Under, stay cool.**

* Given that the Major used to be a skier, and that his father was an industrial Refrigeration engineer, he has spent much of his life in below zero temperatures, so current conditions barely qualify as long sleeve weather.

** The major is well acquainted with a Rabbi in Sydney. If anyone here is Jewish & in that area, drop into Emmanuel Synagogue & tell him that Adam from Beth Zion-Beth Israel in Philadelphia says hello. Rabbi Mordecai is, w/o a doubt, one of the most significant teachers that the Major has ever had, & helluva guy, to boot.

That's the Major's new Moka Express. Turns out, if you use the recommended measurements of both water and coffee for three cups, you wind up with a strong shot that can be stretched out to a generous standard mug as an Americano. At least, that was the result of the Major's first go.

Or, maybe, the Major got it all wrong & accidentally stumbled on a good way to go. Either way, he won't complain.

The verdict of this first shot (pun intended): pretty good. Strong, but nothing wrong w/that. Since the major made this late in the afternoon, he used decaf. But, he looks forward to tasting the results tomorrow morning.

As a side benefit, when assembled for storage, the Moka Express takes up about the same space as a standard mug. Always a good thing in a kitchen where space is at something of a premium.

Peace, love, & Star Trek,

Please tell the Major this is good news and good to know. I’ve been reading good things about the Moka Express and that a bold, syrupy, smooth cup can be made.

Cheers!!!

What comes in a cup, full of goodness, and warms your soul? Why, it’s coffee my good lads! Today on the menu was a cheese quesadilla for breakfast and two cups of Verve Street Level beans brewed by the Moccamaster and enjoyed black.
Oh my fellow’s, why wallow in the depths of despair, when one can briskly frolic through this existence without any cares. Do take care though as you stride along, for the streets can narrow with darkness and life’s road ahead can be scattered with treacherous fog! Peace, my brethren 🕊️🌈🤩🍕

Good morning, coffee crew.

Mad Priest Dark Night of the Soul.
French press.
Black.

It's 18° in Music City right now with a high around 36° today. Sunny to partly cloudy. About 6 hours of sleep last night. The session went very well yesterday evening at our studio. I made it home just after 9 pm. I just found out that a few of the music supervisors that I work for lost their homes in the California fires. They are safe but pretty much everything that they owned is gone. My heart goes out to them.

I have a few phone calls to make today but other than that just relaxing at home. Waiting to see what kind of weather rolls in tomorrow morning. ⛄

Have a blessed Thursday, my friends.

Stay safe and warm, Bill. I know you have some bad weather coming in as well.

I hear ya. I remember i was riding shotgun with a friend of mine up in the Sierra Nevada’s many years ago and it was pretty much a whiteout…let me tell ya, i was ever diligent in my copilot duties; trying to help my friend not drive off the mountain. Yikes, good times.
I almost went over the side of a very steep hill near Gatlinburg, TN once on an icy road. I thought I wasn't going to make it to my cabin alive. Close call.

Eight O’clock Original in the Aeropress this morning. It’s 14° as I write this, headed toward the mid 30’s this afternoon. I think I’ll get out and take a good walk today and maybe take Wallace to his favorite park. It‘ll most likely be a few days before we have another opportunity.

Yes- the wintry weather is ever inching her way closer and closer to where I reside. Got groceries yesterday so I’m staying my derrière home for the next couple of days. Stay warm too, Eric. 😊🌈🙏
My wife stopped by the grocery store last night and got us stocked, but she said it was already starting to look pretty depleted.

Every time I go up there I look at the rentals up in the mountains and wonder how people navigate those roads in the ice. Heck I don’t really like driving on those roads when we stay up there in good weather.

I hope you still have plenty of Evan Williams BiB left, my friend. :)
