I see and enjoy. Thanks for reminding me how much I regret selling my Hisha-Kaku 500You do know about the Japanese Steel Week that is currently running, Brad (@haggis) - right?
Second shave with the ArtRazor Dolphin 8/8 Extra Full Hollow. Fine three-pass shave, very comfortable. Semogue Torga C5 boar, Cella Crema Da Barba shave soap and Clubman Reserve Whiskey Woods AS.
I had to abandon the Japanese Steel Week although I have several nice Japanese razors. When this arrived from Yurii (Ukraine) I couldn't bear to wait to use it. After the first use, I took it to the stones to see if I could improve the keeness without compromising comfort. I maintained the comfort, but I can't attest to making a sharper edge. TBH, I went back to the stones three times before I was satisfied. Yurri uses 105WCr6 steel, the data sheet indicates it can be tempered to 64 HRC, and I'm thinking Yurii takes it right up there. The hardness coupled with the thin extra hollow grind made balancing sufficient pressure to cut the steel while avoiding blade flexure a delicate balancing act. At the end of the day, I had a very satisying shave this afternoon.
