Quick single-pass shave with some ATG touch ups. I'll have to try a full shave with the R41 again, one of these days. It wasn't as unpleasant as I'd remembered.
Razor: Vintage Gillette - Flair Tip - Twist to Open - Circa - 1957 (C-4) Blade: Super Stainless Steel - Polymer Coated Blade, DAY # FOUR USEAGE. Bowl: N/A Soap/Cream: Cremo - Refreshing Mint, smells is great. Brush/Instrument: Fingers/Omega Boar Extra Stuff: Witch Hazel
Back to Vintage again today, so I chose my Vintage Gillette - Flair Tip - Twist to Open - Circa - 1957 (C-4). Shave was three passes, with, across, & against the grain, using a NEW Super Stainless Steel - Polymer Coated Blade, (maker unknown) as it was in Orphan Baggie of loose Blades. Shave had some Blade feel but only feedback Blade was working well, Shave went as easy as 1, 2, 3, Blade is Super Sharp, and, Efficient. Today was DAY # FOUR for using this Blade, came out of my Orphan Blade Ziplock. Blade sent message, aka feedback it was working good today. Still work on using last of my supply of Cremo - Refreshing Mint.
Shave today was Dam Fine Shave but did not achieving perfection rating, would be 9.9 +. Results were Darn Good because I payed a lot of attention to Technique, reaping rewards, of DFS for doing so. I do not & never will chase BBS, do but still got great Shave. Happy back using one of my Vintage Gillette Razors. They are lot of Bang for Buck Razors, even this one at almost 68 years old.
Proof Whiskey
1/2 Personna med prep (2)
Zingari Man Stargazer
St. James of London Pepper and Lime
BBS and no irritation or nicks at all. No sting with alcohol/WH splash.
The Proof razor remains a great head shaver for me. BBS ATG all the way. One pass with touch up and zero irritation. It still isn’t quite as satisfying as a DE, but gets the job done very well without drama.
I still probably am not a great daily shaver. I am still figuring it out, but clearly, my best shaves, without irritation or cuts happen with 2 days growth. The trouble is my hair grows enough that it is too long halfway through the second day, so I feel I need to shave before work every day. I may need to only go wtg on second and third day shaving.
