Razor: Otto Roth NEW LC c.1932-4 (?)
Blade: Astra Superior Stainless (RUS #4)
A nice and quite rare (over here) example of an Otto Roth NEW LC courtesy of the kindness of the great @Messygoon who had to re-home Evil Otto due to some quite unprovoked bites.
Otto Roth was a Roth-Büchner subsidiary, which Gillette acquired in 1926. By 1930 the NJ Otto Roth factory was making products which Gillette sold as economy models. This included Ruby or Rubie blades.
In 1932 a patent re-issue covered the Otto Roth NEW LC design. Around the mid 30's Gillette replaced Otto Roth with it's own branding and overstamped Otto Roth on the baseplate with a series of X's. They were still produced into the late 1930's I believe.
A fantastic shaver, actually a tad better than the Gillette LC's. A great result!
