Razor: REX Envoy (102)
Blade: ASCO Super Stainless (1)
Brush: RazoRock Plissoft Monster Synthetic Shaving Brush-26mm
Lather: VDH Luxury + Cremo Cooling
Aftershave: cold water rinse; Nivea Men Sensitive Soothing Post Shave Balm
No nicks; No irritation; Very Close; Very Smooth; DFS+ shave. The aftershave balm helps evaluate the shave quality. During clean up, I dropped the blade in the sink so this became a One & Done.
9/20: Going to the cabin shave: YUMA, Big Ben, AOS badger, Irish Spring, LVBRAV. Super close shave; should last me til Sunday. BBS. Next shave: Fatip Piccolo OC.
This Aristocrat is smoother and significantly more efficient than either my un-notched '47 Super Speed or my '48-50 notched Aristocrat. I mostly attribute it to the pre-war style baseplate design that doesn't have the indents across the lather holes. It sounds small, but it makes a noticeable change to the shave geometry. It might change the blade gap or exposure, but I'm not going to buy a set of feeler gauges just to find out!
My '41 Ranger Tech has a similar bump in efficiency and uses the same baseplate as this Aristocrat, but the Aristocrat feels a little smoother.
