I've only had the polished copper and brass bowls a few months but have not noticed any change in patina. I just rinse really well after a shave and dry before putting them away. I believe the Obsidian has a clear coat to protect the finish. The captain should reply shortly to give you a definitive answer. I thought I read that others have polished their bowls but don't recall if they were the standard copper bowl or the polished Admiral.@GTTony @WThomas0814 Good morning! Just curious with those polished copper bowls, how often do you polish them, or do you let them develop a patina (if any)?
I was wondering how long it would take for them to show any signs of patina, if you two have noticed any.
Also, are they polished on the inside as well or just the outside? Thanks!
EDIT: I also sent a message to the Captain asking these same questions!
I rotate my Admiral and Commander (~4 shaves). They have started to discolor by then, so, I polish them with a Miracle Cloth before I stow them. Yes, you read that right... in the concave sections of the texture, I see distinct discoloration after 3-4 shaves. I don't really care, since it takes less than two minutes to shine them back up.@GTTony @WThomas0814 Good morning! I was looking into (food safe) copper cleaning options and found this interesting article, of all places, at Home Depot.I rotate my Admiral and Commander (~4 shaves). The Admiral and Commander are internally polished, but, I haven't used a cloth on the inside yet. The Obsidian isn't polished, so, I will let it go, I think.
Scott told me to shine them up I should use white vinegar on a paper towel. I haven't tried it yet (no vinegar in my bathroom); I just keep the Miracle Cloth in a drawer.
Mine has never been polished and it is several years old.@GTTony @WThomas0814 Good morning! Just curious with those polished copper bowls, how often do you polish them, or do you let them develop a patina (if any)?
