what is the tabac scent?

If Tabac has any tobacco notes at all, it comes from the Tobacco PLANT , not the aroma of burnt and dried tobacco and paper. Two wildy different things.

Anyone who gets ashtray smells from Tabac is suffering from significant suggestion-based placebo. :001_rolle

Tabac smells like this.

Ummm....no.

Tabac smells like the back seat of the Corvette you just bought from this guy at a great price because he spent way too much on plastic surgery and the Adult Film Star career just doesn't pay like it did back in the late 70's...

Lord help me, I do love it so.

It has grown on me after a little use. Received a huge bottle of it. Smells very fruity in the morning, but eases off after a couple of hours.

I like Tabac, but I don't get tobacco at all. To me, it's floral and leather with a touch of citrus on top.

it's also a scent that, late at night, whispers:

Use me wisely! This bottle was meant to last two generations.

To me, it smells like an old barber shop. Little bit of everything you would smell in an old barber shop, including a slight hint of cigarette smoke, but in a good way (and I don't smoke). I get a hint of powder, a hint of musk, a hint of old man generic scent, a hint of slightly burnt lint inside a hair dryer, a hint of hard wood floor cleaner.

It really is the perfect balance of a lot of things that could be unpleasant, but some how it pulls them all together into a fabulous scent. I can't get enough of the smell. I love it.

Never understood what people are talking about when they say that Tabac smells like an ashtray or cigarette smoke. I've spent a fair stretch of time around both and there's not much of a resemblance... IMHO

This discussion is fascinating. Tabac is really interesting because it seems folks smell it differently and this could be the basis of its "controversial" nature.

I definitely smell a tobacco/ashtray note in Tabac. It even prompted me to wonder exactly what they put in there to get the scent (I doubt they put cigarette or cigar ash into the soap). I also smell a sweet, cinnamon, clove scent with some floral notes, as well as a scent redolent of pumpkin. Maybe just a touch of leather as well as a soapy scent. All that with some tabacco/ashtray.

I was ambivalent to the scent when I got the puck, wasn't sure if I liked it or disliked it. After a while, though, I really, really enjoy it. I even sniff it now and then as I walk by the bathroom. It is complex, and I enjoy that more than simpler scents. It's very unique! Probably my favorite soap right now.
