4/5/2025 Very late last evening head and face shaves going on five days between shaves. Wasn’t a problem for the black 7 that resulted in BBSs for face and head. It is no Greenfreeze, but Ice Sport with Duke Cannon is another face freezer that I’m in love with. I said WOW after applying.

My lathering seems to be getting better recently as well. I’ve been following a couple of the posted methods on here and am having better success!

MULCUTO APRIL SHAVE

MUSIC: Combat Rock by The Clash, 1982.

Three Days Whiskers

PRE-SHAVE:

- Hot Shower

- Proraso Pre-Shave Cream Cypress and Vetyver (IT)

BOWL: Aluminium (PT)

SOAP: Buly Crème Pogonotomienne (IT)

BRUSH: Geo F Trumper Two Wood Three Band Silvertip, 24 mm (GB)

SR: Mulcuto Solingen Schrägschnitt (D)

"Schrägschnitt" means Oblique Cut.

This particular model is from the 1940s, WW2 time.

Many slants torsion the blade to get the oblique effect. And the two safety bars of those razors are mirrored, absolutely opposed.

Here it's the top cap which has a screw implanted in an oblique manner that determines the oblique anatomy of the base plate. The blade is minimally stressed and only anteroposteriorly curved as it happens in normal Safety Razors. It is not submitted to a torsion effect. The safety bars from both sides are aligned and not simetrically opposed.

The top cap has a lateral crest that must match a similar one on the baseplate for a correct unit mounting.
The top cap has an unequal elevation that facilitates the maintenance of the obliquity as one rides the cap.

The faceted handle permits only the sufficient grip, nothing spectacular.
The weight of the razor leans toward the head.

The whole SR looks like comming out of a medieval blacksmith's forge. An apparent primitive design that gained an innovation prize for the brand in 1932 at an exhibition in London.

This razor shaves very safely with a very feeble blade feel - it's unimaginably smooth.
It's advisable to ride the cap to keep the correct angle. The whole utilization is very intuitive.

Due it's high top cape it can be a bit awkward under the nose. But there you can go easily ATG if the shaving angle is respected. In matter of fact it's one of the few razors I go ATG under the nose with no problem.

A two pass shave is more than enough plus some retouches (few). An amazing 80 y.o. "rasierapparat", efficient since the day it was born.

Note: Originally this razor came with dual edge blades, dual cut. Vorrasur (Pre Shave) and Nachrasur (Post-Shave).
So the same blade had two edges with different class efficiency.

BLADE: Gillette Platinum Vintage (ENG) (2) -

Awesome!

POST-SHAVE:

- 444 Alum-Block (PT)

- Cella Lozione Dopobarba (IT)

- Cosmia Men After-Shave Balm (FR)

THE SHAVE:

Very efficient Two Pass Shave with little blade-buffing. A 10/10.
Perhaps the best shave of the year until now. If BBS exists than this is it!

Evening, last night's shave:

Razor: Razorock Lupo .58 with ti Halo handle
Blade: Gillette Minora (2)
Pre: Hot Water
Soap: A & E Asian Plum
Brush: Omega Boar Pro
Aftershave: n/a
Post: n/a

This razor is such an exceptional value. On any given day, it can sit in my top 3 with much more expensive offerings. Just a slight tingle on the alum for a post, forgot to use aftershave, as it really wasn't necessary. What a shave.

10/10

Cheers

SOTD: 04/06/2025

Razor: Hone Type 15 Bronze
Blade: Feather New Hi-Stainless, 1st use
Brush: Oumo Molten Magma ST-1
Bowl: Cayuen Dark Nebula Bowl
Soap: Elysian Aurelius
Aftershave: Elysian Aurelius
Balm: Stirling Unscented
Additional Care: Thayers Witch Hazel (Unscented)

My first shave with both the Hone Type 15 and Elysian Aurelius. The Hone is a work of art, but feels a bit more about form than function. In the hand, it feels balanced, solid and comfortable. On the face, the very wide safety bar and head shape create a bit of drag and the blade feel is near nil with low efficiency, even with a Feather. Aurelius smells great, although the scent strength is low and the splash a bit oily. DFS+

Wishing you a peaceful day.
