Shave of the Day_17-03-2025

9/10 BBS

Razor - Stainless Combi CC/OC Head
Blade - Suneko
Brush - Unbleached Boar
Soap - 1990's Greek Olive Hotel
Cologne - Red Moscow
Attar - Qadeem Cambodian Oud

After a busy day in the garden I had a lovely relaxing scrape with the stainless thingy whotsit called razor - comfy and close as anything - no drama in sight.

The ancient soap obliged surprisingly well and afforded the renowned Olive Oil face ice-rink and the old Russian frag took me back to my teenage St. Petersburg family travels - heaven indeed.

Happy as Larry

Prep: Hot Shower/Amish beard oil
Razor: Rex Konsul XL Rhodium
Blade: Muhle
Soap: Black Label
Brush: HLS Polished Titanium 2band finest WT badger
Alum Stick: Mineral Block
Aftershave: Black Label
Quality: Slick BBS
Comments: head shave. Amazing! Black label soap produced exceptional lather, I am impressed. It is well in line with Mike’s Natural, Cella Bio and MdC. Thick, slick, moisturizing. The scent is Dior Sauvage; as a matter of fact-the whole line of black label is basically Dior Sauvage scent. Smooth and close shave. Finished with black label splash that I sprayed all over the place. Rating: 9.7/10

Razor: Tatara Muramasa Adjustable
Blade: Perma-Sharp
Brush: Muhle Large ST Synthetic Fiber
Pre-shave: Proraso Blue
Soap: SV 70th Anniversary
Aftershave: SV 70th Anniversary
Bowl: Captains Choice Commander

Third time now using the Muramasa adjustable for head and face shaving. Last shave 2 days ago was with the new Rocnel Sailor and I wanted to compare the two again. Loaded the Muramasa with one of my favorite Perma-Sharp blades and started at #2 for the WTG first pass head shaving. On this setting the Muramasa was just about perfect. As usual the SV lather was slick with good cushion and the razor just glides through 2 days of stubble. Nice and efficient with just a touch of blade feel. On setting 2 I'd still rate the Muramasa on the mild side. Dropped down to 1 for a WTG second pass which was comfortable and smooth. In fact, so good I did something I've never done before. I did a 3rd pass ATG from the back of the neck forward up over the crown. :w00t: My head and the back of my neck is so sensitive that normally I can only tolerate 2 passes WTG and call it done or I get nicks and irritation that requires 3 days for the skin to recover. Moving on to face shaving, I bump the setting up to 2 and did three passes. WTG, ATG and XTG with a little touch up on a couple of spots. Nice comfortable face shave. No nicks, cuts, weepers or irritation. I rated my last shave with the Tatara Muramasa as my best shave ever..... Well damn! This shave just blew me away! Unbelievable. Totally freaking amazing. I was actually a little speechless. I've never experienced a shave quite like this before. This shave made my whole evening. Grateful for the opportunity to be here to share with you all. Definitely 10/10. :pipe:

the 34C is a great razor I always enjoy shaving with mine. I really really wish I could get one in stainless steel.

well after receiving a somewhat awful shave the other day with the 7am durablade(after affects were felt throughout the next day. These blades are horrible and they shave terribly ATG) These treet platinum blades are a TREET FOR YOUR FACE! I had some mild irritation from my last shave and these blades proved that there is always a better shave out there waiting for you.
I am so glad I finally tried these treet platinums they rule! They were smooth and sharp but very smooth and did not further agitate any of the irritation. I was blown away. In fact after my shave I sat in front of the mirror in awe at how much I like this blade. I also had a really good shave with this Aylsworth Apex. A smooth and very efficient razor. Mr. Aylsworth did a fine job designing this razor. I met him at the AZ meetup. I smelled his NOIR soap and his SIGNATURE soap and preferred the signature by far. After the meetup I was kicking myself in the head for not getting one of his razors or his soaps or his brushes.
I had been looking at his razor about a year before wet shaving for the first time. The gamer green and jet black color blew me away as I have been an xbox owner for the last 15 years and the colors are meaningful to me. I do not think he had that color available at the meetup. But I decided to take the plunge with his soap and aluminum razor because I had heard amazing things about it. Treet platinums and the apex will likely be my daily driver for the foreseeable future. It worked extremely well for me. Makes it even better that the designer used to be a game designer before starting a razor company. It just makes the experience that much more special.

Pre-shave soap: premium shea butter bar soap
Shave soap: MonSavon
Brush: Omega 10083 boar
Razor: King C. Gillette
Blade: BIC Chrome Platinum
After-shave: witch hazel + skin bracer
Other: distilled water spray.

The trick I used today: I originally marked the back of razor bottom plate with a strip of red tape, so that I could distinguish which edge of the blade I use when (DE) shaving. So today, I used BIC blade with one edge 2nd shave and the other edge 8th shave. I used the sharpest edge for face, and the less sharp edge for the neck ATG (sensitive). Also, I'm getting more accurate on the touch up, getting to distinguish smaller areas + hair growth direction.

Two passes (WTG, XTG/ATG) + final touch up: 10/10
Smooth, zero cut or irritation.

Enjoyable was the after-shave menthol kick of the skin bracer lotion:w00t:.

10/10

Face leathered Red on the Red Pre. Second use feather loaded with even exposure on the first try, and worked like a hot knife through butter. Didn't start on the upper lip until after finishing two passes elsewhere. Increased the setting from 3 to 4 at some point. Three passes W/X/A. Effortless BBS, no alum feedback or irritation. Washed my face with CeraVe, then on to the regular aftershave progression.

I normally wash my face in the shower, but forgot to grab the CeraVe face wash today. It kinda makes sense to do it after the shave, though, to get all of the soap and/or alum residue off the skin. After several pre-shower shaves last week, I may need to explore this some more. A few hours later, and after a performance no less, my skin looks and feels great. Absolutely fantastic shave, an easy 10/10.

I had a great shave this morning. Nothing to report but a minimal amount of sting when I used my alum block. Another 9.5/10 this morning. Life is good.
