March 17, 2025 Monday shave

Razor: Karve Overlander, brass
Blade: Gillette Nacet (3)
Soap: Razorock XXX
Brush: Yaqi 24mm Silvertip badger
Bowl: Captain's Choice copper
Aftershave: Fine Snake Bite

This was a three pass shave of three days stubble. I really needed to shave! Thankfully, the shave was excellent. The Yaqi badger brush may have gotten closer to being broken in, it seemed to perform better today than before. All in all, a fabulous shave! 10/10 BBS

Excellent razor, and close with the brush. The badger was a lather hog. I don't recall the last time I've had to go back to the tub for more. Otherwise, an excellent brush. I'll eventually figure out the brush.

Normally when I reach a third time with a blade, it'll go dull or uncomfortable, etc, etc, but not the Bic. I didn't give the blade and the lather a 10 because my face went a bit stiff afterwards. I don't think it was the razor, but do keep a journal. Hopefully I'll figure out the minor problem.

MdC Monday

Hello friends

With the imminent arrival of autumn, the temperature has finally dropped. A very pleasant Monday. I'm going to take advantage of it to use the wonderful MdC Vetiver with the wonderful Zenith 506 Unbleached Boar, the wonderful Rocca R94 and the wonderful blade of the week Perma-Sharp (2). I finished with the wonderful Malizia Uomo AS and Tom Ford Grey Vetiver.

With us, a new friend, Dida Pelled.

Today is 03–17-2025 is Day 76 of 2025.

Razor: Vintage Gillette - Super Speed Tech, No Notch 1947 (My Birth Year)
Blade: DORCO Stainless Blade - Made in Vietnam - DAY # 2 USEAGE.
Bowl:
N/A
Soap/Cream: Cremo - Refreshing Mint, smells is great.
Brush/Instrument: Fingers/Omega Boar
Extra Stuff: Witch Hazel

Today used my Vintage Gillette - Super Speed Tech, No Notch 1947 (My Birth Year) Shave was three passes, with, across, & against the grain, using a DORCO Stainless Blade - Made in Vietnam, chops down Beard like Hot Knife Cutting Cold Butter, easy as 1, 2, 3, Blade is Super Sharp, and Efficient. Today was DAY # TWO for using this Blade, came out of my Orphan Blade Ziplock. Fell in love with this orphan, as it was first use ever of this Blade. Love this Blade, it's double wrapper does great job of protecting, and it’s not pricy.

Shave today was Dam Fine Shave but did not achieving perfection rating, would be 9.8, Close to BBS. Results were great because I payed a lot of attention to Technique, Head Angle, and Pressure, reaped rewards, of DFS for doing so. I do not chase BBS, but still got Another Great Shave.

Using newly opened fresh Tube of Cremo - Refreshing Mint, Black Cap, No 90 day supply nonsense on tube. This scent is very very nice, it doesn’t knock you over, but scent is present. It leaves a slight tingling sensation like menthol post use. Still working in the Cremo into my beard with my Omega Boar, it seems to helped getting Beard to stand up for closer shave. Working with Brush on Face don’t lather Cremo much, but seem to help raise Beard for Shaving off.

I am a Vintage Gillette Junkie, That is almost all I own, Vintage Gillette’s work well for me, never failing to give a Dam Fine Shave with New Sharp Blade. I can’t imagine much better results from a modern super razor. Sorry but people need to try a Vintage Gillette if they haven’t with an open mind, if they don’t own one. Think of about snagging a Tech, Super Speed, or Slim adjustable as a First Vintage Gillette. IMHO a Vintage Gillette’s are a lot of bang for the buck.

9.75/10

Brush - Rudy Vey Beehive with a Oumo ST1 synthetic knot
Blade - Dorco STP301 (Prime)
Razor - Lambda Ti Athena
Soap - Tallow Tabac
Post Shave - Captains Choice Bay Rum Splash
Post Shave Lotion - Ethos Tortola

Close shave, no irritation, almost BBS, made the lather a but thin with the synthetic knot, but all in all an excellent shave!

A clean and comfortable two pass shave with my Progress.
Took the weekend off from shaving. Haven't done that in a long time!
The Progress, Accuforge, Ariana & Evans Strawberry Fields soap and splash, all combined for a darn fine shave!

Best wishes for an excellent week ahead!
