The Lather Maestro

  • Preshave = shower
  • Captain's Choice stoneware lather bowl
  • Yaqi Ghost 90SB Ti spiral handle (China)
  • Vintage Gillette Spoiler #2 (USA)
  • DS Cosmetics 22mm badger (China)
  • MdC Rose (France)
  • Thayer's Witch Hazel (USA)
  • NOS Shulton Old Spice A/S (USA)
10/10 BBS This stuff is insane! You only have to look at it to make a lather! I did 15 swirls on bloomed soap and got enough for 4 passes. Started with 30 swirls, then 20. I could do 10 swirls, and though the brush doesn't look loaded, get 3 passes out of it. Has anyone ever posted the number of shaves they've gotten out of one jar?

I didn't use to believe it until until I got a jar, but this may be as economical on a per-shave basis as Cella or Proraso. If anyone has seen the # of shaves on an empty tub, I'd be interested to know.

That must have been the best shave I have had in a very long time!. It was so slick, wonderful and easy. I used a pre shave soap for the first time and I have to say that it made a difference. Fantastic shave and a great end to a week with the SuperSpeed.

Not quite as comfortable shave as the previous one. I could tell that this was a fresh blade and I have to be a bit more careful not to stir up any irritation. Still I had a close shave.

Dull yet interesting
Preshave: Hot shower
Soap/Shave cream: Stirling Soap Hot Apple Cider
Brush: Jequil & Corenveo 24mm
Razor: Feather Popular
Blade: Feather (1)
Post shave: Pinaud Clubman
Rating: 10/10

This was the first shave with the Popular and it was a good one. I bought it primarily as a travel razor but it's also nice to have options, particularly when it's inexpensive. The handle and base are made of plastic and the razor is exceedingly light, a twist-to-open style with the knob up high on the handle.
It just flat out works. I used one of the two Feather blades that were included, blades that have a well-deserved reputation as the sharpest made. But the razor is very mild so even with the world's sharpest blade, it gave a very comfortable shave. Nice to have another stubble eliminator in my quiver.

A superb shave to get Monday rolling along. Once again, the BSS#1 was excellent. I'll hold this soap up along with @BigAlVista Mark's Rogue IV to any soap in my den. No weepers or irritation. The Lime Bay Rum seemed right for today.

10/10.

Have a blessed day, friends.

I realy like the Sterlig bay rum soap. Very plesant on the nose, and ekselent lather. The Nacet blade was starting to lose its sharpnes at the end of the shave, this is the 3 shave with it.
