Wow. What a great soap. I had to wait for it to come back into stock, but it was well worth it.
GC68-P- Gillette 7 O'clock Super Platinum - Semogue Torga Mistura C3 - Epsilon Amber 10/10
Dear Mark, what are your first impressions on Santa Maria del Fiore Sapone da Barba? Do you like the scent? And is the lather up to your expectations?

Preshave: Face wash and hot towel
Soap: Santa Maria del Fiore
Brush: Semogue C5 Torga-Boar
Razor: '41 Ranger Tech
Blades: Rembrandt then GSB to finish the job
Aftershave: Thayers Facial Toner

Loving this new soap. Such a wonderful lather and scent. I ordered the aftershave to match after this shave.
I tried another Rembrandt blade today but had to finish up with the GSB due to leftover stubble.

Sunday's shave -

Razor: Yates Winning v2
Blade: Personna "Platinum Chrome" (1)
Pre-shave: Dove MEN+CARE 3-N-1
Lather: Proraso (green)
Aftershave: Fruit of the Earth aloe vera gel

Wonderful shave with the Winning today. For me, the Winning v2 is a surprisingly efficient razor: The shave was comfortable, close, and irritation-free.

Water = Cold
Razor = Henson Ti Mild
Blade = Feather (fresh one so extra sharp)
Soap = Furbo Orange
Aftershave = Nivea Sensitive Cooling
My Dome = Mr Clean Smooth

Shave 10/10
(No spots were missed)

Actual Shave Quality was a solid 10/10, no spots missed, hit a home run here, the Henson Mild stuff really liked extra sharp blades, might try a BIC next ;)

Dear Marco, the scent is unlike anything I have smelled before. It is wonderful. The lather was slick and performed very well. This is a top tier soap.
I have just noticed on the Italian Barber website that they have a new 2025 packaging. The jar is still made of heavy glass but it's no longer 250 g, rather 200 g. The lid isn't anymore aluminum, but plastic. The labels have changed too. Overall it does look nice and I'm expecting them to update the labels on the glass flask bottle of the matching aftershave soon.

But most importantly I'm so glad to hear you love this marvellous soap dear Mark!

Sunday morning shave (rated 10/10) using:
  • Razor: Razorock Mamba 53 with Super Knurl handle
  • Blade: KAI (4)
  • Brush: APShaveCo Angelic Harp G5C synth (excellent)
  • Pre-shave: Noxzema
  • Soap: Mike’s Natural Tallow, Barber Shop scent (excellent)
  • Post shave: Thayer’s Coconut Witch Hazel followed by Old Spice splash and Stirling Glacial Unscented balm
PXL_20250119_164436531.jpg
Shaving perfection in my normal WTG/ATG/touch up approach. Razor and blade performed in perfect harmony. I spent extra time making lather on my face, and it paid off in a beautifully cushiony, slick layer of Mike's Natural Tallow. I enjoy Mike's version of the "Barber Shop" scent. I have no other version for comparison, but no matter. The brush is my scrubbiest synth, but it’s still very soft on my face. The nice backbone makes face lathering even easier than usual.

My shave scoring log is found HERE.

Happy shaves everyone :badger:

Sunday, January 19th, 2025 ~ GRUYERE2025, JanGRUME, 019/300+

An excellent and rewarding face and head shave in the shower! No blood or irritation, some healthy sting with AS splash.
Feels good and smells good!

Treewhaled a little bit with the end-December sales with Stirling. The Stirling synthetic brush was bought in 2023, but not used until today. Everything worked superbly. The combo of Futur and fresh USTA delivered the shave I expected.

Futur, Derby USTA, Stirling ONE soap, AS splash, and EdT, Stirling branded synthetic.

Cheers to an excellent week ahead!
