My only vintage razor, and one I don't reach for often. However I'm always pleased with it. Not the easiest or smoothest, but it gets the job done.

9/10

Nice shave, 9/10. I love the Ethos Tonka Bean. I'm still working through my thinking on the satin Ti Blackbird. Something feels a wee bit off to me, but I haven't quite figured out what just yet.

Day# 14, Today is 01-14-2025, Shave Report

Razor:
1956 Ball-End Tech
Blade: Gillette 7-O-Clock Permasharpe Stainless, Day 3 use.
Soap/Cream: Cremo Classic Citrus (Secret Sent)
Bowl: N/A
Brush/Instrument: Omega Bore
Extra Stuff: Witch Hazel

Used my 1956 Ball-End Tech again, IMHO is amazing Razor, this Razor was PIF thanks to @gpjoe. Doing a 3 pass Shave Against, With, & Across the

Grain, a Gillette 7-O-Clock Permasharpe Stainless, there was some slight blade feel, blade just glided like skating on ice, removed Beard with ease. Shave was 9.8+, not BBS, but still DamFine Shave.

Still working on a Tube of Cremo Citrus, different smell, but NO TRUE CITRUS Sent IMHO. Being fair there could be Citrus aroma, but it is not in, or on your face sent that yell Citrus. got to lather a tad work with Omega Bore Bristle.

Love my Old Vintage Gillette’s, good Razor’s, still working well enough to put a big smile on my face. What this Test is underestimated work horse, cold be almost Grail Razor at 66 year young.

Cannot imagine getting a much better Shave with one a modern super premium razors. I am a Vintage Gillette Junkie, they work well with Sharp New Quality Blade IMHO. Color me HAPPY.

Sort of difficult to believe we are into DAY 14 of 2025.

Razor: Pasteur Pharmacy Dural
Blade: Gillette Nacet, 5th use
Brush: Timeless Adjustable 20-28mm (26mm used here)
Bowl: Marble Shave Bowl Beau Brummell
Preshave: # Proraso Blue Cream
Soap: Geo F. Trumper Rose Cream
Balm: Geo F. Trumper Rose Coral Skin Food Gel
Additional Care: Alum Pierre D’Alun (France)
Additional Care: Thayer’s Witch Hazel: Rose
Fragrance: Proraso Lime EdC

Typical 2 pass; first pass WTG throughout, second pass WTG face and neck, XTG upper lip/mustache area, ATG lower lip/chin area. No nicks, weepers, irritation, or alum stinging. Used a new marble shave bowl, let it soak in hot water for a couple minutes and created a great warm rose scented lather using Geo F. Trumper. Nacet blade (5) maybe a little bit of tugging - blade discarded after this use. Applied some Thayer’s rose witch hazel and Geo F. Trumper Skin Food to finish it off. Exactly what I was looking for in a daily shave routine: DFS 9/10 for me; not trying for BBS and minus 1 for the first pass tugging a bit. I can achieve BBS but it’s at the cost of some irritation so I’ve decided to pursue DFS +/- level shaves and have truly been enjoying the experience even more since I changed my methods. This wet shaving isn’t exact like mathematics, it’s got some science and some art mixed all up.
Can’t wait for my next shave!

My Wednesday morning shave went well. Nothing to report but some minor sting when I used my Alum Block. This pairing of razor and blade is working well for me and I would rate the shave as another 9.5/10.

  • Pre-shave Garnier Botanic Therapy hair shampoo
  • Simpsons Trafalgar T3 synthetic brush
  • Ach Brito Mogno soap
  • Wilkinson Sword TTO with a Feather on its 6th and last use
  • 444 after shave

I like Mogno a lot! I grated it in a tub for easier loading. Although I am not a big fan of synthetic brushes, I used the T3. I bloomed the soap with warm water and the brush got loads of soap with ease. I lathered on my face and enjoyed an excellent shave.

Rating: 9/10. Although BBS, I could feel the last of the Feather blade on my skin.
