Well today Friday 12/27/2024 I used my Vintage 1962 H-2 Gillette Slim Adjustable again at Setting 3, 4, and last 5, with a Gillette 7 O-Clock Permasharp Blade. Day Number NINE usage of Blade. This blade has not got dull but is going that direction, so I am planning on one more use. Nine great shaves is good for cheap blade.

The Shave was good as previous with the 7-0 Clock Blade, call it a 9.5, Very Good Shave. Blade seems to have gone toward DULL, so pushing one more shave out of it. Can’t say nothing bad about Gillette 7-O Clock blades, all colors, all type get high marks. The Slim Adjustable sat in box with other Gillette Vintages, over 4 months of hibernation. Forgot how GREAT it shaves.

Again used the Cremo Classic today, tried doing two applications, and two passes. Think I found the best way for me to use this product with great result, think you got to reapply a little more Cremo between passes for optimal results.

The Cremo is very slippery, but you got to reapply between passes to get good results. IMHO. No way this Cremo tube is really a 90 Supply Tube? Maybe is you use One Almond Size Drop, but that don’t work if you reapply between passes.

Sixty two year old Vintage Slim Adjustable did great job, how could that be it not modern with Arm, and Leg Price Tag. King C. Gillette made good Razors, IMHO. If you do not own a Vintage Gillette Slim, you’re missing out. One Great Razors at bargain basement prices.

Moustache Wax: Captain Fawcett's "Booze & Baccy"

Rating: 9.5/10

I hadn't shaved in.. six days it seems! I had to check my last post in this thread! It's very handy for that purpose! I'd gotten lazy over the holidays and just let it grow for a while.. but by last night it had become unbearable so I figured six days of growth is a job for the R41. I tend to always opt for the R41 or similar when I've more than 3-4 days growth. It's always good. After one pass 90% shaved just another pass to complete and one final light one for a cleanup.

Otherwise just a basic little shave, nothing fancy. I like that Tusitala from Gentleman's Nod. Peach is the main player.. a little boozy (rum), a little ambery, a little sweet mild spice.. some lime too. I think it's inspired by sailing ships exploring the new world in the 1800s and in my view it captures the feel of that quite well actually. The name I believe is Samoan and also was the name of a ship.

Another thing I like about Tusitala is.. it doesn't have any cooling agent! I have a number of their products and most have Koolada WS-23 synthetic cooling agent in the splash. I'm not a huge fan of cooling agents as sometimes they make me a little red/blotchy for 5-10 minutes after applying the splash. I don't mind mild menthol like Aqua Velva or Skin Bracer or Floid.. or even Noble Otters Orbit.. but in some instances cooling agent doesn't agree with me, especially if it's on the stronger side.

Gentleman's Nod in my opinion make some great products. I'd personally rank many of them very highly, they are a great artisan. I don't see them mentioned much on here at all but they do seem to be popular with some of the YouTube shave community. Would definitely recommend their products!

Great shave with the Permasharp and the Rockwell. Started on plate 2, which is ultra smooth, but switched to plate 3 for second and touch up passes. Think I will try plate 4 or 5 tomorrow, if I'm feeling brave. Good day everyone!!

I wanted to benchmark the Velocity-One for Comfort and Ease-of-use so did a shave-off vs the Overlander which in my mind is the gold standard. The V1 performed admirably, just behind the Overlander in both. Beautiful shaves today. Overlander BBS-, Velocity-One BBS.

December 27, 2024 Friday shave

Razor: Karve Overlander, brass
Blade: Wizamet Super Iridium (3)
Soap: Stirling Sheep
Brush: The Razor Company/AP Shave Co. Deep Blue 24mm G5C
Bowl: Captain's Choice Heavyweight copper
Aftershave: Pinaud Clubman

Today's shave was pretty much the same as the previous two with this same setup. Three passes of two days growth yielded another stellar shave.
Stirling Sheep made great, slick lather that goes a long way to assure an excellent shave. The Overlander is such a fabulous razor!
Simply wonderful! 10

Friday, DecemBOAR 27th, 2024

Head and face shave in the shower. Head had at least 7 days growth. Decided to use my Blackbird OC long handle to mow down my dome growth. It worked great!
Back to front, front to back, and some clean up on my head. Super efficient OC shave with the USTA for me!
Two WTG passes on my face and neck, that is all it took!
I'm left with a super clean and smooth shave. No discomfort or weepers.
10/10 DFS

Blackland Blackbird OC, Derby USTA blade, Zenith 31mm boar, Mike's Natural Vetiver, Guerlain Vetiver EdT.
