Healing day…

Bull Dog electric
Mysterium serum/Star Jelly aftershave and lotion mix. Doppleganger.
7/10

After my debacle yesterday, I need some time to recover. The electric is great for that and gives a surprisingly decent shave. I would compare it to roughly 6-8 hours post BBS DE wet shave. Good enough for all the people outside my head. I’ll skip tomorrow (no work) and shave Saturday. Hopefully ready for the blade again on Monday.

This was the second shave with the Razor Rock Stealth Slant Prototype Razor and PolSilver Super Iridium blade. It was another close and smooth shave. The Stealth Slant was a prototype slant razor that is no longer in production. The Wunderbar is the final version but I like the Stealth Slant in contrast with the Wunderbar. Today’s brush is the Morris & ‘Forndran 2XL Finest. This brush has a Rooney knot and did a nice job of making lather. The Monsavon soap is on its 20th use. A nice BBS shave. Have a wonderful day, folks.

three-tu-tu, three-tu-tu
B&M Unscented
Semogue SOC Barbear Portugues
La Faulx++
Schick Proline SE blade
Thayer's unscented toner
Clinique Moisturizer

I would rate the shave a 2, but only because I'm feeling generous. Everything was great except the Schick Proline blade, which was rough and uncomfortable. The results mirrored the feeling.

The Lather Maestro

Thursday, November 14

  • Pre shave - shower
  • Captain's Choice stoneware lather bowl
  • Yaqi Ghost 90SB DS Cosmetics Spiral Ti handle (China)
  • Gillette Platinum "Swede" #5 (Russia)
  • Omega Vintage Elite Synth brush (Italy)
  • Tabac (original-tallow) (Germany)
  • Thayer's WH (USA)
  • Pinaud Lilac Vegatal (USA)

10/10 BBS. Got off my stint with TFS Annuendo and onto Tabac. It’s been a few weeks since I used Tabac, but after using S.V. Opuntia and Felce Aromatica, TFS Annuendo, Cella, PAA Doppleganger Grey, Ethos Dragonsbeard … and coming back to this. I believe original Tabac (tallow) may have been the best shave soap ever created. For me, of course, YMMV, but it is probably my favorite shave soap of all time.

I’m not a tallow religionist, either. S.V. And TFS are non-tallow soaps and top-tier. My favorites include examples of both. But Tabac outshines them all, IMNSHO.

Pre Shave: Warm Shower, Stirling Baker Street Liquid Bath Soap, Stirling Unscented Pre Shave Soap

Rating: 10/10 A comfortable 3 pass BBS shave with no touch ups, weepers, cuts or irritation. An excellent shave.

Ditto, ditto
Shave 270

Prep: warm shower
Pre Shave: PAA Tube 2.0

Soap: Arko stick, pressed into loading bowl
Brush: SOC Boar
Lather Bowl: Captain's Choice - The Admiral

Razor: 1939 Gillette Popular
Blade: Personna Lab Blue (1)

THREE PASS SHAVE

Post Shave: cold water, alum, witch hazel

Aftershave: Fine Snake Bite
Fragrance: Terre d'Hermes Parfum

First shave on a new Lab Blue is a bit touchy in this razor. I never got around to trying a corked blade because it isn't THAT bad.

9.6/10 - DFS +, moderate alum feedback
