A dollop a day sends my beard away

Comments: An acceptable shave with a very tired blade this morning. For the time being, this will be may be my last shave with the Bic Chrome. To date I have had 793 shaves from the 91 blades used to date. Amazon should deliver a 100-count sampler tuck sometime today. The tuck is the gift from my daughter-en-law. I will use these blades in alphabetical order—inserting my remaining BICs. In addition, I will also get a brush stand today. Pending are a basic blade bank, and two tubs of Noble Otter soap—King and Tahiti scents.

Lockback

Dull yet interesting
Preshave: Hot shower
Soap/Shave cream: Stirling Soap Bay Rum
Brush: Maggard 24mm
Razor: Razorock Game Changer 68-P
Blade: Personna Med Prep (2)
Post shave: Pinaud Clubman
Rating: 10/10

Absolutely superb blade. And a delightful shave with the smell of Bay Rum in the air, although Ben the cat knocked over my Pinaud Clubman with his tail as he got a drink of water. Luckily, the cap was on.

Received a package from yourshaving today. First time trying out arko (tallow stick) as well as The Cube and Gillette SharpEdge (yellow) blades.

Surprisingly I didn't mind the smell of arko. It wasn't as strong as I expected, and it did smell like a urinal cake, but they often have a citrusy smell, and I like citrus so no issues there.

The Cube didn't strike me as a particularly different soap, but when using it per it's instructions, with arko, the lather created was incredible. I've never had such a thirsty and thick lather before. Next time I use arko I'll try it without The Cube to see if it was the combination of the two which created such a monstrosity.

I did somehow manage to get 4 weepers... I'm going to blame the blades this time around. This contributed to a reduced score.

I was very hesitant about also buying the Kaliflower Organics AS balm. From my experience balms with these "medicinal herbs" (Weleda AS Balm, Haslinger balm) often have a funky smell. Unfortunately, this AS balm had a really funky smell. But it seems to work fine.

Overall a 7.5/10

Karve Christopher Bradley Open Comb G plate...
zzzzzzzzzz zzz.jpg

I've mentioned this somewhere before but I think if there's a razor out there that'll cross all the t's and dot the i's in finding that one, it would probably be the CB OC (not sure about plate yet). btw, my Bison also in black (I think in matte - too lazy to get off chair to check, lol). Anyway, that is one great looking razor!

Saturday's shave -

Razor: Blackbird
Blade: Personna Platinum Chrome (3)
Lather: Cella (red)
Aftershave: Fruit of the Earth aloe vera gel
Splash: Razor Emporium 1955

Outstanding shave with the Blackbird this morning. The War Department likes the 1955 scent. Cella is easy to lather and makes a nice slick shaving surface. I shaved the back of my neck also. For me the Blackbird has really "clicked" and is a top tier razor.

Shave of the Day_15-03-2025

Perfect BBS

Razor - Black Cerakote Brass with Yaqi Flipside Combi CC/OC Head
Blade - Torpedo Lieres Carbon
Brush - Black Boar
Bowl - Big Glass Ashtray
Soap - Faith in Nature - Blue Cedar
Oil - Khadlaj - Hareem Al Sultan Blue
Attar - Qadeem Cambodian Oud

I couldn't fail to get a fabulous result with the heavy grippy handle and the versatile twin head teamed with the smooth Lieres Carbon blade.

Went like clockwork - soap smelt great; so did the U.A.E. oil.

Very Happy Boy Tonight

EIGHT HOURS POST SHAVE.jpg

Here's me 8 hours post shave ; I saw my Brother today who shaved 6 hours before I saw him and he looked like me after 3/4 days HaHa !

I got him a cheapie Chinese Merkur Futur clone last Christmas and he's used it once and said it was too heavy so I'm gonna get him a mild wood one with enclosed tabs that still does the business.

- I'm gonna lead this horse to water and point his head down and get him some lovely trad Olive Oil soap and a posh frag

- That'll get him off cartridges and junk disposables - I'm gonna get him a razor that a blind drunk guy can use in the dark

HaHa !

Guys are there any mild Aluminium ones with a small gap/small blade exposure like the Henson but with a wider optimum shaving angle - something for a guy who is used to pressing hard with a plastic fantastic HaHa ?
