Today's shave
  • Rockwell 6S + R3 baseplate + Astra SP Ru blade (1st shave) from 2013
  • Rudy Vey LE 2014 B&B D01 2-Band
  • TOBS St James cream (3017)
  • Truefitt & Hill 1805 Aftershave Balm
Overall, a very nice shave, rating it 9/10. No nicks, weepers nor razor burn. I never really chase BBS, I'm always happy with a DFS in 2 passes (WTG + XTG) and a minor chin touch-up.

Razor:Henson AL13+
Blade:Tatra Platinum (2)
Soap/Cream:Crowne & Crane: Lavender and Cedar
Brush:Fine Stout 24mm Synthetic

# Days Growth:1.5
Pre Shave:Warm water, TOBS Pre-Shave Gel with a drop of jojoba oil
Post Shave:Cold water, Thayers, Jack Black Cooling Gel

Sharpness:10
Comfort:10
Face/Neck:BBS- / DFS+

Excellent 3-pass shave, giving the neck a little extra care to recover from yesterday's overly aggressive Feather adventure. Crowne & Crane Lavender and Cedar is one of my favorite soaps.

First use of this $35 brush. It is inded a "Fine" little brush - soft on the face, surprisingly good backbone and lathers well. It doesn't hold a full 3 passes of lather but it's easy enough to go back to the bowl for more.

Brush: AP Shave Co 24mm G5C

Post-Shave: RazoRock Mudder Focker Splash & Zingari Man Sego Unscented Balm

Excellent Game-Changer shave, 9.8/10. I got a little rambunctious on the ATG pass and ended up with a tiny weeper on my neck.

Evening Shower Face and Head Shave

It was a triumphant shave for me! Even though I gave myself a micro cut under my lip because I pressed too hard to start.
Other than that, it was a learning experience as well as finding a new love for a razor.

When I did the head shave on several days' growth with the Blackbird Ti OC, and didn't butcher myself, I was really happy as my first couple times the OC was horrible for me. A lot of bites. It was a confidence booster.

Basically been a Blackbird Lite shaver. The standard safety bar bit me too much. My skills have improved!

Today's face and head shave are milestone for smoothness and closeness! It's like glass!

Thanks for reading my shave rambling. I was just happy about this shave.

Blackbird Ti SB, Yaqi small synthetic, Derby Extra, Mike's Natural Vetiver, witch hazel.

SOTD: 10/01/2024

Razor: Blackland Blackbird Ti
Blade: Wizamet Super Iridium, 1st use
Brush: HC&C Goblin
Bowl: Cayuen Dark Nebula Bowl
Preshave: Hot Shower & L’Occitane Verbena Shower Gel Soap
Soap: HC&C American Badass
Aftershave: HC&C American Badass
Balm: Whollykaw Bare Naked
Additional Care: Proraso Blue Preshave
Additional Care: Thayers Witch Hazel (Unscented)

As always, a fabulously efficient shave with the TiBird. I accidentally held the blade against my face and gave myself a very shallow vertical cut. Hopefully it will heal without leaving a mark (fingers crossed). It was my first time using American Badass. Very nice lather. The scent is a little wood forward, but mellows out to a nice sweet top note over time. BBS+

Wishing you a peaceful evening.
