What car did you have + wish you still had + why ?

I miss my 1965 GMC truck with a flatbed.

I coon hunted all over the Oklahoma/Arkansas/Missouri Ozarks with that old truck when I was a young man.

I had a lot of fun in it.

1977 Datsun 280z. It was a rust bucket but so much fun to drive.

I wish I still had my 66 Mustang. Why because it was a great car, looked great. It was easy to work on and my Dad taught me a great deal about car maintenance. It was the first car I drove long distance.

While I was in the Army my middle bother rolled it I never knew about it for a long time after.

Might seem mudane, but '92 Nissan Maxima. I am certain that would still be an excellent car.

I had a '64 Plymouth at one point. I was fond of that car but I doubt it would be very good by modern standards.

Don't miss my TR6 or Mazda RX7 a bit, although they were fun to drive.

64 Cadillac series 62 convertible...Matador red with matching leather and a snow white top....the best car I ever had...66-69...

I've never regretted selling any of my vehicles. However, my brother-in-law had a Dodge Dart back in the 70's with their slant six engine. Not the best car in the world, nor the worst, but it would have run forever. I still think he was an idiot do sell that one. My own odd ball wish would be to have an '73 Karmann Ghia.

Volkswagen GTI with all the trimmings (2011). Wish car, current car, and no regrets at all. Tons of fun to drive, yet still practical. I do wish it had a bigger engine and also more fuel efficient. I don't care that those 2 things are contradictory. And I would change the side pillars to allow more side view while driving. Anyway, a 9.9/10.

Older cars - a Pontiac Bonneville that was a good people-mover but not much else, and a Honda Accord. I don't particularly acre to revisit either, especially the Bonneville.

A midnight blue Stingray Corvette, or same as a Firebird, would certainly be worthy of much consideration.

The only car I still miss is a '92 Buick Century that I bought used. No air bag, flat hood with ornament, 6 cyl, a split bench cloth front seat and "gold" inside and out. The car was comfortable to sit in and to drive. Even my wife & daughter who called it an "old man's car" when I first brought it home, came to love it. Eventually the trans went and I picked up a '95 Century to replace it. Did not like the '95 with it's bucket seats near as much. I also wouldn't mind having my mom's '54 Chevy (stick) that I learned to drive on.

I miss my 66 Pontiac GTO. I bought it for $300 in high school. GTO really stands for GasTiresOil. It spent more time broken than running but it was a cool car. I also miss my 79 Porsche 911. It was fast and reliable.

The last car I miss was my 87 Jeep Grand Wagoneer. Very solid rig.

Of the cars I have owned, I would have to say either my 1980 Mazda RX7 or my 1972 Cadillac El Dorado convertible. Of any car I have test driven, would have to be the Fiat Dino, man that is easily the fastest car I have ever driven. I still kick myself for not buying that car.

98 Estoril/Dove ///M3/4/5 - I put a lot of blood and sweat into that car including suspension, differential, software, short shift kit, and the usual intake, MAF, exhaust, audio. Easily the best car I've ever had - very understated, but an absolute blast.

My dad had two cars when I was growing up that I wish I had now.
1st was a 62 Galaxie 500 sunliner convertible. We had to sell it when we moved to the cities back when I was in Junior High. I'd hoped to work on that car throughout high school and "finish it up" as it was about 3/4 way done with a restoration.

2nd was a 71 C10 with a 350 4bbl in it, nice fast truck with a really cool wood bed, It was a bit of a rust bucket and probably wasn't worth saving but I loved that truck. We sold it when the transmission started to slip on it.

Nice thread, I actually read this far and saw a couple that were some of my favorites .. but the original post was about the car I wish I hadn't sold. Mine went away for $400, needing college money so I could avoid the draft, the 1960 Austin Healy Bug Eyed Sprite, all 948 cubes of power, top end around 80 brand new, it was faster later in life with an Abarth muffler and much of the unibody combined with the atmosphere and fallen away. I loved that little ***, the impossible to synchronize carbs, the Lucas wiring that burned one day outside the high school .. had to pull the spark plug wires by hand to shut the little brit off. It was easy to push home though

My 1988 RX-7.:001_wub::001_wub: Meet my wife in that car, had eight speakers in it including two in the head rests. Didn't get good gas milage but gas was cheap enough then kids came along and that was that. New chapter. A better chapter but I miss it nonetheless.

I wish I had back my 1967 Oldsmobile Cutlas Supreme 442 and my 1970 SS 396 Chevelle. They were great cars, very fast and girl magnets:a37:
