Good news! The replacement bottle of Varon Dandy arrived unscathed! Looks like they did a better job packing it this time. Also included a couple of samples. Not sure if that was a consolation prize or if every order gets them . I opened the bottle and I like the scent. I'll have to compare it to the spray bottle I ordered off Amazon and see if its the same formula. Dang that's a big bottle. I'm going to have to transfer some if that to smaller bottles. Anyone have a source for smaller aftershave bottles?

Anything that intrigues me I HAVE TO PURCHASE (if I have the funds available).

At £15 GBP (~$19.60 USD) for ONE LITER, I couldn't resist it. It's the MOST aftershave I've ever purchased in one go (not to mention the CHEAPEST!).

Unfortunately, I only have a pic of the 10" high bottle. The packaging, which was excellent (from PureSpain.co.uk), is now in the recycling bin.

My bottle arrived today. Here it is in all its glory:

I put a little on my wrist pulse point and sniffed it when it dried. I could hardly detect any scent at all. I gave it another sniff on dry down (half an hour later) and received a delightful aroma.

I used it after my shave this evening (about 2½ hours ago). I love the scent, and my face feels great.

So, thank you @GTTony for inspiring me. One happy bunny here.


FOOTNOTE for Tony:
I love my (easy to squeeze the exact amount you want) 50ml dropper bottles (like THESE). I hope that helps.

Score! That's a great price. I paid $36 USD plus shipping from a company in Portugal. And yes the bottle is huge. So even at that price it is a bargain. Thank you for the small plastic bottle idea!

I just checked the website where I ordered from in Portugal. It looks like there is a Cologne and an after shave made by Varon Dandy. I thought it was just a duplicate listing on their site but I can see the cologne is a lighter color like I purchased in the US.

I wanted a bona-fide Japanese made DE/safety, and not a recent one. After doing a huge amount of Google-fu and translation work, I found there a few brands floating around that the native Japanese wet-shaving community typically go for - assuming they don't just go for vintage Gillette, etc: 'Superdoll,' 'Linden,' and 'Kidal.' I'm sure there are more, but those are just the ones I found a trace of on-line.

Sadly, the few examples on eBay didn't ship to Britain as a rule, so my already small pool of stock was even smaller... until I found this one, hiding in plain sight. Japanese seller, Japanese made, from the 'Showa' period. Could certainly be much later, but given the striking similarity to brass Gillette models of the period, I reckon this is 1930s-40s.

Four-piece, a generous open comb, in a well kept box. Even came with some vintage Feather blades! First shave will be tomorrow evening I reckon, looking forward to christening this one.

Price wasn't too shabby either. No import fees, think I got it for around 60 USD.

Martin de Candre - Agrumes et Rose

These arrived yesterday. The Agrumes scent immediately brings to mind a light, fresh lemon zest — absolutely wonderful. The Rose scent is also light and subtle and not overpowering at all.

I’m planning to work both into my daily rotation for spring and summer. Thinking Agrumes will be on deck for tomorrow (Sunday) morning.

Well I never thought Id buy more of these but I realized that they are not bad and not bad for the price. I surely thought I would not like these kind of like the rockwell razors but they are pretty decent. They kind of feel like astra greens without the coating. Henson shipped them to me in 2 days flat. I was very surprised. Straight to my door no apartment mailbox nonsense
