Interesting. So much to look at and learn when you go down this wormhole.Old and New refer to blade compatibility.
Old type = 3 hole pattern blade.
New type (or the New) = Slot pattern blade we still use today.
Gillette sold both types for a bit, hence the names. No jazzy product names back then, like Mach 3 and Fusion.
