Ah, there's love in the air... My advice, is to forget everyone's advice! Do it yourself and have something to look back upon with the SWMBO on you sixtieth wedding anniversary.. Best wishes for the best together!
Well folks, I caved. After clawing desperately for a perfect wedding day shave, I realized that I was pressuring myself way too much by trying to pick up shaving with a DE in a few months. I prematurely switched products several times (blades, soaps-to-creams, creams-to-soaps, etc) and completely psyched myself out.
So I went back to my wet/dry electric until I can slow down and enjoy the process after the wedding. Still, I learned an incredible amount about how to even do THAT better (Shavemac, great creams and soaps, proper prep) and have still managed to get the best shaves I have ever had in my life in the last few days, with very little irritation even though it's new all over again.
So after the wedding I'll give it another shot, with a bit more patience and repose. In the meantime, please don't ban me.
I was married a little less than a month ago and I think that the most important thing to do is look good (well, that and show up). However, you do not need to have a BBS shave in order to look good... in fact, you only need to look like you are BBS (ie, have a good shave, but don't get nuts with it). If you are comfortable with using your DE for a clean but not BBS shave, then I say use it (and make sure to use products that you will love - may as well make it a GREAT day!)... but if you aren't comfortable you may indeed want to consider having a pro shave (if one is available in your city/town) or using a (I feel dirty saying this) cartridge razor (but only if it will help min. the razor burn/irritation).
Again, the most important thing is to be there looking good (and happy!).
Just try not to be nervous when running the razor across your face. A shaky hand through nerves, coupled with the shakes from the stag-do the night before could equal: ...........
Ah just kidding, I wouldn't want to put you under any pressure or anything
