Vodka

Chopin all the way; I'm lucky enough to live near the CAN border; picked up a few bottles at the duty free when currency exchange was ~40%...came to around $15/20 a bottle

While I only make proper martinis I think vodka is a nice change to sip on. I have found that amongst mid to top shelf there is little difference but that there is a world of difference between bottom and mid. My favorite potato vodka would be ketel. As a side note my favorite overall is Tito's, but as stated it is not potato based.

Sobieski is the best vodka you can buy for the money IMO. I have no trouble finding it in Madison, WI but I'm not sure how widely distributed it is. This is all I currently buy. Its a Polish Vodka made from rye that is owned by the Belvedere company. And its about 11-13 bucks for a 750ml. Not bad!

Here is a good review I have found of it:

I also like Svedka but Sobieski is cheaper and tastes better. I have also heard great things about Titos and plan on trying it sometime.

It's not potato based... in fact I think it's some sort of grain vodka... but if you ever come across it, try 26000. I came across it in an Albertsons in Anaheim for $10 a bottle and haven't seen it since. From what I could find online, it's not widely distrubuted in the US and is actually really expensive. :blushing:

I suppose Chopin, but it is too expensive for what you get.
I drink exclusively vodka from the motherland now.
