Valobra Shave Stick

I used a regular $2 grater (the coarsest side) and then mashed it into a bowl. I washed it thoroughly before anybody used it to grate cheese.

Valoblra is a great soap; one of my favourites! It's right up there with Tabac and MWF.

Just ordered some from BullGoose, so it should be here yesterday, knowing Phil.

I noticed that it says "Hard Soap".
Is it really hard, hard, or more like La Toja. (I hope)

Last week I would not give face latherers/shave sticks a 2nd look, but my experience with La Toja and a refurbed brush with a TGN knot, caused me to see the light.

Now I am collecting shave sticks. Hmmm, is there a SSAD, if so, I have it.
Unfortunately, I milled the other 2 I had, Speick and Arko.

I guess I will have to eventually see what all the noise re Moos is about.

I already have Tabac in the bowl form.

ciao

It is harder than La Toja. Both are excellent but La Toja works a bit better IMO.

About the same hardness as Speick for Valbora stick.

Milling and mashing sticks...what a shame. You can shove them back in an empty glue stick though to reclaim them as sticks.

I agree. Using a shave stick is one of the fun things about shaving. As a bonus, nothing could be easier or quicker. I love shave sticks.

Forgive me for hijacking for a bit but,

Do/Can you use other hard/semi-hard soaps in place of a stick ?

Say that I have an unopened puck of MWF in my stash.
Would it work to smear it on my face then face lather ?
Or any other shaving soap for that matter ?

thanks, and back to topic.

Soap is soap, there's nothing magical about it whether it's in puck or stick form. Any system that gets the soap lathered up and on your face is a good system.

I've been known to pick up entire pucks and rub them on my face - it's actually easier to hold one in your palm that way than it is to use a stick with 2 or 3 fingers1

What is the scent of the Valobra stick ?

thanks
Very muted clean soapiness. More muted than MWF. Faint hint of vanilla, perhaps. Very pleasant. Performance is superlative, lathers like a high end cream. One of the best hard soaps in production.
