Truefitt and Hill Thoughts?

I dont think the creams are overpriced. They are great performers... for me a touch above TOBS. At $30 for 6.7 oz, it comes to $22 per 5 oz. Thats the same price as AOS, and IMO AOS does not hold a candle to T&H in both performance and presentation.

Just the tub alone is a work of art. As soon as the summer is over I'll be buying a tub of Trafalgar and WI Limes.

The TF&H tubs = a work of art ??? ...... I don't get it - I own 4 tubs of TF&H and they are just as boring looking as my 3 tubs of GFT (Trumper) - just black with gold instead of beige with black letters......
AOS tubs on the other hand IMHO looks a bit more stylish to me - not saying AOS tubs looks anything like my Acqua Di Parma tub or my Penhaligon Blenheims Bouquet tub, just saying that my TF&H tubs are deadly boring black with golden letters, almost as boring looking as my 4 tubs of TOBS cream :biggrin1:

YMMV of course as always :001_smile

You Sir have the weirdest taste in creams I've seen in here :biggrin1:

Martin de Candre is possible the best performing soap in the world - to hate it is like saying 'I hate Ferrari's, they are tough and uncomfortable to ride in'
Acqua Di Parma is in my Top 3 over best performing creams ever made - along with Acca Kappa 1869 tub and Santa Maria Novelle tub
Castle Forbes - while I do think they are overrated a bit, they are still wonderful creams and for you to dislike them, you would have to be allergic to the strong essential oils in them - other wise I simply can't believe you dislike them

YMMV by quite a bit here obviously :001_tongu

One should look in the mirror for wierd taste:biggrin1:.

While you may feel MdC is equivalent to a Ferrari, and ADP in your top three, I look MdC as an 82 Fiat and AdP as overpriced drug store. I don't like SMN either, again, overpriced and underperforming, sort of like the Italian Football Team.

By the way AK is a nice cream, I have had it in my rotation before and if I could buy it local (like I can T&H) I would toss a tube into my mix. Usually I get some when I go to Las Vegas and rotate it in until it runs out.

CF is overated and underperforms and I am very non allergic thank you. What I can't beleive is that you would denigrate my personal findings as to performance when you have no idea of the techniques I use or my personal needs. Some creams are fantastic performers for the folks who use them, but they may be folks who judge their shave by the copious amounts of sweet smelling lather they obtain with 15 minutes of electric mixing while carefully adding distilled water with a pipette and thereafter getting a DFS with only a few weepers.

But here, understand my needs. I shower shave 99% of the time and face lather all of the time. While perfect BBS with no blood at all used to be my admirable personal goal (that I achieved virtually all the time), now that I am TV filming and get an HD camera stuffed in my face, I NEED to have perfect BBS (no blood, no rash) every time. I have no room for error. Further, we get here essentially Artesian water with only filtering and chlorination. The creams that I selected in my rotation (T&H, BB, Floris, Trumper Violet, Speick, AK 1869) all perform for me under those conditions. The others do not.

Scents: I shower shave, so what may be harsh and artificifially cologny to your educated nose is pleasant to me what with my bad sinuses and moisture all over the air during my shave. As indicated, I am not a fan of the T&H colognes other than Trafalgar, but I find all of their scents (except UC) to be fine in a cream, especially since the conditions I use them in "tone them down". If an otherwise fine performing cream smells bad to me (like UC) then I just dont buy it.

There are tons more creams that don't perform for me: Proraso, Palmolive, Arko, EJ, O Mehlor, AOS, KMF, Nivea, TOBs...I use what works for me and I dont care what it costs, thats why I have both Speick and BB in my rotation.

Next up is a Fitjar and some different T&H and Trumper scents. If I decide to start wearing Floris Santal or another sandlewood cologne again, then I will get some Floris santal cream since I already know Floris performs. Since you have them all, you should send me a sample:001_tt2:

I probably overstated by saying "work of art." I'll rephrase that by saying they are very well designed, the black tub with gold letters is very classy. Their logo and the font chosen are aesthetically pleasing and visually balanced. The box it comes in is very well designed as well. You can tell they hired a VERY good design firm for their packaging, that is without doubt.

TOBS creams, while I love them, definitely lack in the presentation. Ive had tubs where the label is not in the center or some with air bubbles trapped underneath, I mean I can go buy a bottle of head and shoulders and the label won't have that!

Anyhow, aesthetics are very subjective so I can't argue AOS vs. T&H as both are very nice presentation... but with $$$ being equal as it is I would go for T&H any day.

Both TF&H 1805 and Sandalwood creams are in my rotation. Lovely creams that are as slick as anything I have tried. Honestly I probably won't repurchase them because there are many products that are just as slick at half the cost or less, but it is nice to indulge in their scents every once in a while.

I bought a tub of West Indian Limes, and I think it's vastly overrated and overpriced. It seems very commercial and soulless. I never use it.

I've tried 1805 soap and Rose cream and wasn't very happy about either unfortunately. I find their EDC very interesting but something just doesn't work for me to get a full bottle of anything thy make. Haven't tried the Ultimate Comfort yet.

My favorite by far is the Ultimate Comfort. Great scent and amazing performance. There other creams are nice in terms of performance, but I'm not a huge fan of cologne scented creams.

I have the sample pack and I am about half way through. the creams and ASB's are good performers, but not significantly better that the generic Creighton RSCo, with the possible exception of the Almond, which I found was very rich, but, as I have a personal dislike for the smell of marzipan, I wouldn't buy again. The West Indian Limes was pleasant, if a bit kitchen-cleanerish for me. Sandalwood was ok, not as overpowering as the TOBS . I used the 1805 today; nice cream but I couldn't pick up any discernible fragrance other than soap.

Ultimate Comfort is by far their best all-round performer for me and I would consider buying a tub of that, and the ASB, but; given that there are product as good for less; I would describe them in general as underwhelming.

I am through four of the samples so far. 1805, WI Limes, Rose, and Sandalwood. I thought the 1805 was amazing. I might get a tub in the future. Sandalwood was really nice but slightly too perfumey. I did buy the balm too but I havent used it yet, just the sample. The Lime cream gave me cinnamon on the nose, but the balm was stellar. Smelled like lime peels. The rose was not for me, I let the wife use it.

I am really looking forward to the Grafron and the UC. And they give you quite a bit in those samples, 3 shaves easily for me

I'm a big fan of T&H creams. My particular favorite is their Ultimate Comfort and that is one cream I am never without. However, I also like their Grafton, 1805, and West Indian Lime.

+1 on the Ultimate Comfort and West Indian Lime.

I'm a wet shaving newbie and had trouble getting a decent lather. I started with Proraso, but I'm getting a much better result with the T&H. I'm not big on heavy scents, so the Ultimate Comfort is perfect for me. The subtle scent of the West Indian Lime is nice, too. While they might seem more expensive than something like Proraso, I find I'm using less product with the T&H while getting a thicker, more luxurious lather.

T&H creams are great! True they are a bit more then some but used well, a tub will last you for a long time. I personally really like the soothing effect of the almond cream.

Truefitt & Hill Grafton is my top pic for their creams (just because the scent is the most appealing to me)

I have never tried any of their other products, only the shave creams

I have T&H Grafton and 1805 and am very fond of both of them and consider them top performers. To my nose, they are both excellent scents that last a long time on me. I have the matching AS balms and colognes for both of these scents. I don't think that I will ever be without them in my den. They are high end products that are good values in my view. I am thinking of adding Trafalgar to the den as well.

Regards,

Doug

Truefitt and Hill does have a discount for Badger and Blade members; it works if you use it on their website. I think it is BB12. I ordered the sampler pack, which is $10.50 shipped. With the discount it was under $9.00.
