Tried a Derby again after months of Feathers

I have a vet comes to my house 3 or 4 times a month. He used $1 disposables and canned goo, about all we have availabe here. I gave him a kit and several different blades. He knows nothing of what people say of different blades. A month later he said nothing but Feathers for him. A totally uninfluenced evaluation.

Same experience with Derbys here. I don't like em but swmbo uses em for leg shaving. I think they are probably an ok blade for thin light hair but I have a BLACK wiry course beard.

same here.... my daughter thats 18 is using my derby stock... they do nothing but irritate me and my face.

Tried Derbys a couple of times. Then PIFd the lot of them. They do not cut my whiskers. Don't know how I would exactly characterize them, but Derbys can't cut them. And when the blade finally lets go, look out!

Actually replying to this thread to see if I can remove the LURKER thingy from under my user name. Anyway- I find Derby's work extremely well in my EJ89. Everyone seems to have differing tolerances or skin. thanks for listening, Frank

I too have a course beard and early on settled on Feather blades. As my technique improved (particularly my lathering technique) I found that other blades worked better than they did when I started out.
Now, I can use most any blade without problems. My preferred blade now is the Astra SP followed by the Feather. I also rotate in Red IPs and 7 O'clock yellows.
