The tale of 2 wilkies

I did it, number 10 down and DONE. Todays shave was after a good amount of growth. I was not going to shave Saturday but my kid wanted to shave with me with her plastic razor kit. Yes I said her, she loves to shave with me with that thing. So I did a 2 pass WTG shave on Saturday. No shave Sunday. Monday I would have shaved but woke up late (forgot to reset the alarm clock) and rushed out the door.

So this leads me to shave 10. I fealt some irritation for sure but still smooth. Finish with some Florida Water. I am calling this one 10 and done, I am not going to push it but I think it could be possible.

Next up the other England made Wilkinson without the stripe

I tried the new blade, this is the one that just has wilkinson sword on the wrapper with no stripe. I used the same setup

1904
Silver Tip Grade A
Panna Crema veriver

for my first shave and with three days growth just like the first shave with the other blade

I dont think it is as sharp. It did a good job but I had some tugging and irritation. It may have just been an off day. I am going to push them just like I did the other blade but so far I dont think they are as good. Result was a near bbs but it took more work and did not feel as nice. The other blades seemed smoother and sharper

Tomorrow is number 2 on the new blade, if it goes like the first I will ask for the secret to be revieled

Second shave done! The blade does not seem the same still, I felt more pulling than I think I did around shave 6 or the other blade. Still a fine smooth shave with very little burn when I slapped on some Florida Water but it took some work. I am going to push it another but I think I am ready to hear what the difference is between the two blades

I am going to keep trying the blade to see if I can push it to at least what I did the blade on the left but so far I am thinking not. What are you thoughts? Did you do the same test

You might find this thread interesting. It's a little study I did with a few tough whiskered guys. One thing most of us found was that the 80's Wilkie seemed to really hit it's stride around shave 3 and I think we averaged 8-9 shaves with the blade which is pretty amazing for us wire whiskers guys.

Honestly, I have yet to do an official testing of the 90's blade as I did with the 80's. But, it seems like the 80's version has a little more longevity to me. I think I will run the exact same test on the 90's blade and see what the results are. I'm also thinking about sending Turtle one of the 80's blades to see how it goes for him.

I had my third shave with the blade and though it seemed to go ok at first I did not get a close shave and had a few red spots. I am thinking the blade is not for me. I would consider buying the blades from the 80s but not the others. Those gave a nice shave and lasted a good long time!
