The problem of crude titles

Can I also add that the mod who posted the OP on this thread has a fine young woman bearing an aweful lot of skin with the tag line "crank n' spank" under it. Something is rotten in the State of Denmark.
Ahh, irony.

Back on track, I'm perfectly happy to comply with the original request. I'm not offended by the type of titles the OP was referring to; I just find them childish.

I know I'm not alone in this, but I'm inclined to form an opinion of someone based on what they say (or type). So when someone posts about "faceturbating" on one of the regular forums I tend to form an unfavorable opinion of that person.

However, if it were a post in the Barbershop I'd tend to give a free pass. Context is everything.

Speaking of user titles, What does "strop me gently" mean?

Come on guys, this is not controversial. It's a simple request and does not have to be debated and dissected.

I really do understand that the mods try to keep the forum clean from inappropriate behavior.
A simple request though would have been 'May I please remind you to keep the forum clean of inappropriate messages as stated in these (link to) guidelines? Messages like [insert here] should be avoided.'
A reminder has to be stated from time to time I guess as new people keep coming, but I think the original request had a little 'attitude'.

I hope I make myself not too unpopular with this remark.

Anybody ever hear of the FYOS (fourteen year old sister(/sibling)) rule?

The idea is that you don't post anything you wouldn't be comfortable having your 14 year old sibling reading or hearing. I like it because it allows room for interpretation of the rules while still giving a pretty good baseline for behavior.

I guarantee that following that rule will enrich your life.

I'm not opposed to the use of "virginity" in thread titles.

Perhaps I'm currently over medicated, but I'm going to tackle this one anyone.

First off, it doesn't matter whether you're opposed to it or not. This isn't a poll or a request for debate. This is a very clear statement regarding a disturbing trend the site is experiencing.

If you want to title a thread "lost my virginity", "broke my cherry", or "deflowered myself", or if you want to either defend the practice or argue the point, I'd suggest you do it elsewhere. What we expect from members is something a lot more than that they blindly obey a set of rules. We expect them to possess the good sense to know how to comport themselves without our help.

I'll leave you with this-
Around ten years ago, a young female college student asked then president Bill Clinton at a press conference this legendary question, which got a lot of press: "Boxers or briefs?" Everyone had a good laugh, but I couldn't help but think what my response to her would have been. I'd like to think that I would have said this-
"Some day, years from now, your grandson will sit on your lap and say, 'Grandma, tell me about the time you met the President of the United States. What did you say to him?' You'll be able to tell him that you asked him what type of underwear he wore."

Anyone who wants to argue these points should be aware that they're effectively arguing with themselves, and they won't be arguing for too long.

hi welcome to the internet! if something offends you on a website you don't have to go to that website. sorta like the TV if you are watching the mets game comes on and you say "oh i don't want to watch this" you can change the channel.

there's a lot worse out there. besides its harmless fun. there's no vulgarity to it. its not like anyone has written about how awesome their 1st shave was the
in short if you don't like those kinda thread you can do 2 things 1. deal with it or 2. don't read them.

Option 3: delete posts and ban users who fail to comply with the reasonable requests of the OWNERS AND MODERATORS of this site. OR, to take #2 from another angle... if you don't like the rules & requests of the Mods, go to another site.

Here we have the most crystal clear example of a man who just doesn't get it.

I think I'm starting to dislike the taste of this forum.

What ever happened to the most gentlemanly of pursuits, leading by example?

I'll just throw out there that double entendres ("Ohhh! I'll bet no one has ever made jokes about virgin olive oil. I'll be the first and it'll kill in Peoria.") in subject lines can be problematic for those members who may read the boards from the office, public locations, or have young children reading with us.

This isn't Porno and Blade (though it wouldn't be surprising if such a site exists) or Stand-up Comedian Wannabes and Blade.

It's not all about you. What can be helpful is if you realize that not everyone is you, living/reading/posting to forums in the same environment as you, and that striving to be a gentleman is not a negative thing.

Rich, you are not only a fine czar, you seem to be somewhat clairvoyant.
