For several years my perfect pairings have been a Red Pack (UK) Personna in my SuperSpeed (winter razor) and a Merkur blade in my 34G (summer razor). Last month I tried an Astra in my SS and was surprised to find it sharper and smoother than my favorite Personna. I have now switched blades, something I never expected to do. Next month I take out my summer razor and I'm hoping I get the same results with the Astra in the 34G.

If I absolutely have to have a BBS shave, it is going to be my Sheraton paired with an Astra SP. I get very good to great results with an SP in nearly every razor I have, but the Sheraton/Astra SP combo would be my desert island choice.

For me, perfection is a 37C matched with a Kai.

Funny you mention that. That was my one of my favorite combos until I had to lay my Fatboy to rest due to a stress crack :-( RIP
I thought about buying another adjustable, but the ones currently offered just don't appeal to me. I bought the slant to try it out and it was incredible with the Polsilver SI's...a blade I've used exclusivlely for years; and then I tried a few Kai's a friend gave me. Haven't looked back since. In my slant, both blades give me the exact same end result, only difference is there is less touch-up with the Kai. Now my travel razor (30C & SI's) are another perfect match IMO.

I'll add Merkur 34 + Derby Extras, Fatoby + Voskhod and Gilltte Slm + Gillette 7 o'clock Perma-Sharps (green box)
Astra SPs were my favourites...versatile with Fatboy, Slim, Titan...until I discovered the Rapiras
Merkur 38 and a Gillette Silver Blue have been working wonders for me.
Best I've had in my short tenure with DE shaving was the shave I had tonight. Tradere SB and a Gillette 7 o'clock Black blade.
I haven't tried a lot of blades yet, but I have enough variety to try a lot over the next 6 months. I can't wait to see if it can possibly bet any better than that combination.
Honestly though, I actually attribute a lot of the magic of that shave to the Tradere.
