What's new

The new CNAT - California Natural hone!

Hey guys, sorry for the delay! I have several more stones lapped now and am going to be sending one off to a friend that was a geologist/rockhound to get his input. He is also a full time knife maker so he is well qualified to evaluate the sharpening potential of these stones.

I am going to get a pass around going on for here. Currently I am a bit skepticle of its ability to hone a razor nicely, but more likely its my ability to hone a razor well that's messing things up! I will find a nice clear piece of a decent size to pass around. These do work extremely well on knives, 100% positive about that. Plenty of blood on the counter and sink to prove that! The only thing I see these not working well for, are modern super-alloy steels in knives, or anything above hRc 61-62 possibly a point or two higher. Don't know until we find out!

Before anyone starts flooding my inbox, it is full. I will start a new thread when the pass around is ready to go, and my inbox is clear. Ideally I would like to keep this to veteran members and experienced sharpeners/honers. It will be the grey stones only. I will include some notes and as it goes along if others could take notes of how used and performance evalutation it would be great.

Thanx for the interest!
