My wife asked me to select a couple of movies and knowing she likes comedies I chose National Lampoon's Vacation from 1983, along with the sequel National Lampoon's European Vacation from 1985. To be honest neither were anything like as funny as I remember them and my wife did not appreciate the occasional smutty humour. Either the films have not aged well, or I have not aged well, probably the latter - my wife of course remains ageless. It is interesting to me that after many years some films are not as good as I remember them, some every bit as good, and some way better. I wonder what differentiates them - something for me to think about 🤔
You can't go wrong with Mel Brooks
Young Frankenstein
Spaceballs
Blazing Saddles
Dracula, Dead and Loving It
Robin Hood, Men in Tights

Sometimes I find this to be the case even just a week or two, or even a few days, later.

Just this past summer my wife and I streamed two films in a row (within about 10 days of each other), both of which had me thinking I was wasting my time. The first was Under The Skin, and the second was Poor Things. All the way through both movies I was thinking that, while I was interested enough to see how each one ended, I also wasn't really enjoying them. BUT: I can't remember the last time a film stuck with me the way these two did. I thought about both of them almost constantly for the next couple weeks, and now I'm ready to see them both again. In my head, today, I feel like Under The Skin is a really bleak, dark poem, and I'm pretty sure Poor Things might be in the top 15 or 20 movies I've ever seen.

The mind is a funny thing.

Under the Skin is on my list as a movie I can't believe I haven't already seen. It's easy to forget that ScarJo is actually a great actress when she isn't doing superhero stuff. Marriage Story and JoJo Rabbit are both .

Rear Window

I mean, I have seen this many times. I suspect everyone who regularly posts in this thread has seen it. But sometimes a guy just needs a bit more Grace Kelly in his life.

Amazon Prime has a 99 cent deal on "Deadpool and Wolverine" going, so even so I'm not partial to superhero movies, I'll be watching it. I'm waiting for "Conclave" and "Saturday Night" prices to drop to rent.

Took my wife and daughter to Wicked. My first movie theatre visit since COVID.The movie was actually well done but musicals aren’t really my thing.

A bar in a movie theatre is totally new to me but helped. They had Jack Daniels and Coke slushies which I found crazy. It used to be dry hot dogs and overprice popcorn and pop. Ok, I am easily impressed or just getting old. 😜 🍻

I used to go to the fancy cinemas here when I was feeling flash. They have comfy recliners, and you can arrange for a waiter to bring you wine and cheeses at set intervals during the film. Very civilised, but it makes it hard to go back to the multiplex with the great unwashed public.
