The Jubilee QEII brush has arrived

Intrigued

Bigfoot & Bagel aficionado.
I am keen to hear your impressions on softness compared to your earlier batch Manchurian brushes...

I used it today and my initial impression is that this batch of Manchurian is more similar to my first Emperor 3 two-banded than my other Manchurians from the first batch. It has longer and whiter tips and a wider, darker band of black than the Manchurians from the first batch. It does have about the same face feel as the originals with maybe a little less backbone. This brush doesn't seem, to me, to be packed quite as densely as my other Manchurians and that may explain the feeling of less backbone. It is by no means floppy.

In short it has all the characteristics of my beloved first Emperor 3 (without the shedding) and knowing how much you favor the current Simpsons 2-Banded, I think your going to love this brush.

Sounds good! I am afraid I won't get mine for another few weeks but the attributes you are describing should be fine. I am very happy with the current 2 band hair and I was contemplating to get the QE2 with a 2 band knot which I in the end did not ask for as I wanted to try a Manchurian knot...

The #25 Jubilee plus some other great goodies made it into the stocking.
If anyone has #47 and would like to trade, let me know. Mine is and shall remain unused (for now!) thanks

I was browsing this page as research for a potential purchase... now after seeing facetime's post searching for #47 it makes me want to get #18. I haven't ordered mine yet, but if anyone has #18 and wants to either sell or trade it please let me know.

Regards,

Chris

When did you order your brush??
I just ordered mine last week....very excited, but after seeing your post wondering just how many weeks I will have to wait now :(

Simpson shut down for the holidays, so they probably began making the recently-ordered brushes when they got back after the New Year.

Mine - No. 46 - just arrived. She was held at the post office for 10 days, which would make for the usual 10 days of travel time from the UK. Indeed a fine brush. From a test lather I would say the tips are much softer than what I would have expected from Manchurian. This seems to confirm what others have mentioned that the latest batch has more similarity in softness to the current 2 band hair, which is good news for me.
She will be joining her 2 band siblings in my line up. I will test her on the face tomorrow.

Very nice, someone like Simpsons two band! Is that Tulip a T2 or T3? It looks perfect.

Am I the only Jubilee user/owner (#52) who is unimpressed? The knot is very loosely packed making for a fine but quite floppy brush. The bristles hold lather but for face lathering, the massaging experience is quite light -- almost non-existent. The handle looks noce, but even with the commemorative coin in the bottom, is very light and almost toy-like. Not the substantial experience I had expected. Or is that a feature -- not a defect?

Mine isn't remotely floppy. Though it is not packed to the same degree as a Chubby or Classic, there is plenty in the knot to give it decent backbone.

I think that is all relative to expectations. My main concern was the softness of the tips. The latest Manchurian grade seems to be softer than the previous one. Compared to a Chubby the ERII also has a relative higher loft and less dense knot which helps in this regard as well. I do not view it as floppy as the hair has plenty of backbone. It does not bloom as much as 3 band either. Hence, from my end it is good face lathering brush that allows both painting and circular motion and gives a nice scrub without scritch. If you are used to lower lofts and more dense brushes it may not meet your expectations.

I would agree that I had a different 'expectation' regarding the Briar wood handle, I honestly thought it was plastic when i first looked at the brush. I am a noob, but I too thought the "feel" was 'toy-like' for a brush. Overall the lather I got from the brush was insain and I reallly like the feel on my face, but again this is my first brush and my first time shaving. I had bought a 2 dollar sythetic shaving brush just to make some cream and i immediately noticed the difference after my QEII arrived. I would like a brush with a heavier handle, maybe a marble or natural stone......any suggestions??
