So, in looking around at what to smoke on IPSD, I noted that the well known "American" brands are no longer American Brands.
It appears that STG (Scandinavian Tobacco Group) owns everything nowadays, Captain Black, Sir Walter Raleigh, Half and Half etc.
Even the well known brands from Lane, are no longer Lane, as Lane itself was bought by STG.
Reynolds sold off most holdings to STG, and what isn't owned by STG is owned by Mac Baren, who owns Sutliff which used to be a huge American Company. Mac Baren produces 7 Seas, Amphora, Backwoods, Three Nuns, and Capstan.

It appears that about the only Pipe Tobacco made by an American owned company now is Boswell, and Prince Albert (Reynolds sold to Middleton, Middleton sold to Atria, Atria owns Philip Morris)

Won't make me stop smoking the other brands, just sad to see almost everything being sold to offshore companies.

I thought I would be "International" on "International Pipe Smoking Day" but it appears that is going to be a harder proposition than I originally anticipated.

Maybe some Prince Albert in a Kaywoodie, some Peterson Sherlock Holmes in a Peterson, some Samuel Gawith in a Dunhill, and almost anything else in a Stanwell.
Isn’t Sutliff still American?
